Imagine licking the boots of a multi million dollar company while they [censored] on your head and tell you it’s raining
-
@go4stros25 people are paying to have an advantage in game. That is the definition of pay2win. I'm not sure what else they need to do for you to think it's not. Maybe a card you can buy that automatically swings and hits a home run 50% of the time for you? Hopefully SDS doesn't read this and get any ideas
You could use the same logic and say 2k isn't pay2win. You can win on that game with inferior free cards too but you're at a disadvantage compared to the pay pigs.
And it's only gonna get worse from here...
-
@aaronjw76 haha yeah man people are upset. I get it.

Imagine being a 12 year old disguised as an adult crying about EVERYTHING in the game.
There are some valid complaints about the direction SDS has gone but this is the most whiney, baby filled community in sports gaming - maybe all of gaming and that's saying something lol
-
@suzypuff14 maybe, but maybe it gets better. Maybe they are just trying to get paid before everyone loses interest in the game. Look, I hate the current direction too, but I've played this game for a long time. Things are usually terrible in the beginning, but they usually get better.
The argument that its pay to win is silly tho. Is having the 92 oniel Cruz card really that much better than say the free 87 mondessi, the free 89 correa, the 84 free Willie Castro, mookie? No.
Where I get worried is the collections.
-
To be fair, I suck at this game. However I have a good job so beginning of the year I throw some money in to get started on collections. I pretty much have all top tier cards and I get beat easily sometimes.
So I wouldn’t say it’s pay2win. Having top tier cards definitely help, but doesn’t make me an amazing player.
On the other hand. This year has been awful so far. It started off promising and has gotten progressively worse. I wasn’t a fan of all 99’s last night. I’m a fan of people having different teams and not facing the same team every game. This year kind of has that.
But the programs are a disgrace. The XP cap is a disgrace. Having to keep paying to get the best cards in the game is a disgrace (even for someone that could afford it).
And the biggest disgrace is the absolute silence from sds. It’s fine to come in with a plan, but to come in with a plan and then pivot when you realize more than half of your base is unhappy. There’s absolutely no reason why sds can’t come out and address things, and see where and how they can change things to make more people happy.
-
@go4stros25 well we can agree to disagree and simply have different ways of concluding it something is p2w or not. You have to admit its scummy to give that Cruz card under 60 vision and the Trout and Ohtani 60+. They know what they're doing.
And yes, collections are worrying. They will probably paywall the lightning cards by making you collect a majority of the cards that are only obtainable in expensive packs
-
Nobody has stubs. You say you could earn pretty easy flipping but only flippers have stubs. There is literally nothing coming for the majority who just play.
Whats the perpetual offline way to earn stubs? Mini seasons? Where 5-7 games gets you 20 packs which will probably net you 4-5k stubs? Well that ain’t buying much. And even worse after about 4-5 times of doing it most people probably look around and stop logging in.
Be lucky that rtts thing happened or this state of market would have happened a while ago.
-
@suzypuff14 yeah the whole 60 vision thing is annoying, but only because I'm sick of seeing the stupid Buxton meta. I agree they probably made the Cruz card sub 60 vision to make people buy it, but that's their fault for blindly following the youtube meta. I find it hilarious when all the Buxton bums get mad about vision lol.
-
@GoTitans3 so then learn to flip, and flip. They’re a marker for a reason and it’s apart of the game. Flipping isn’t hard, and it’s honestly not that time consuming. I work a full time job with overtime. 40+ hours a week. Have a child, with another one on the way. I have time to flip make profit and buy the cards I want.
I am not a fan of sds by any means and think they really need to come on here and address things like adults and stop hiding. But there really is way too many people complaining about literally everything possible. They’re not going to make everyone happy. It’s impossible.
-
Love the term bootlicker. It’s used by childish adults who have no logical comeback so they instead insist because they are too dumb to come up with a constructive argument to a rebuttal you must just be a bootlicker. Fine call people bootlickers, I’d rather be a “bootlicker” than a whiny moron who can’t think properly
-
@Bearsfan217 would be interesting to see the actual player count, it has to be so low compared to previous years.
-
@Debow13 congrats buddy! Hope all goes well for you and your family. You're right, flipping isn't hard, boring, but not hard. I hate it, but I do it.
-
@go4stros25 thank you appreciate it. It’s definitely boring. And until this morning I’ve been having good success with flipping when I can.
But todays market seems different than the past days leading up to this and just wanted to see if anyone else noticed it as well.
-
@Debow13 I haven't been flipping lately. I have enough stubs to finish the LS collection, but for whatever reason I'm just not interested.
I play mostly co op. And apparently there is no point in unlocking the best cards when you play co op because everyone is using them for free lol. I wish they would fix this.
-
With all the changes, my focus has changed to just playing and not worried about cards or stubs just take what I can get. I'll still lose to the try hards and the sweaty streamers that have their TTV name but not being worries about the next thing or FOMO i have been progressing faster on things it seems
-
To say it isn't pay to win is arguing semantics. DD historically have tried to allow people to get the best cards by means other than using real money, until this year. But the fact is that winning has way more to do with skill than it does having the best cards. So no it isn't pay to win, but it's clear a move in a different direction for SDS.
What has clearly happened is they got tired of hearing people complain about facing the same lineups all the time. Usually the same top cards that are easily achieved by grinding vs CPU. So the fix is to make the best cards only available on the market.
-
@CDNMoneyMaker93 Yeah, that FOMO feel of 21-22-23 really killed my enjoyment these last couple of years. Skipped 23 entirely.
If it leaves me more time to finally play online instead of grinding 5 HRs by a C and 30Ks from ALE pitchers and the insane POTM grind missions, the TA/POTM 30+ moments combined, well I'm happy with that. I can finally rock a team I want to play with, instead of have to play with. Brewers early theme team is looking really nice right now with Sexson, Hoskins, Tellez, Woodruff, Yelich and Grandal.
-
@yankblan I really like the grandal card. I'm like 300 pxp away for parallel 5 with him.
-
Going through all the offline content made me a couple hundred thousand stubs. Now there's nothing really to grind for, "340k Xp got me a whopping 3k stubs! Thank u SDS!!" It seems more avg ppl don't have much stubs left. I'm left around 11k now after doing most of the collections.
