@Shauwn So you just gloss over the part about having no problems playing online. I generally dont play ranked because sitting down for a 9 inning game and waiting for some douche bag like you to get tired of spamming R2 or pausing every 10 seconds
I hate when ppl spam R2 and pause the game. Only time I pause is when I go to the pen, sub a hitter, or go take a leak.
No need to get emotional. Relax brotha.I mean all of what he just said is true and an issue that’s existed for years but SDS hasn’t addressed it.
-
@Honor_The_Game44 yep; I mean by that that it’s not as big a leap for a Ranked or BR goon to grind stuff online, as it is for a CPU guy to get your pride buttf**** online.
If like me you have a hard time hitting online at all, grinding missions online is a chore that takes away the few hours a week I get to enjoy the game. Might as well have fun during your time.
I like to jump online from time to time, I just don’t have much time for it. I get it’s a no go for many; I’m just not salty about it.
-
i am one of those no online people. it's just more of a principle that I should not be forced to play online to gain rewards. And this goes for other games too.
I do some events from time to time and those aren't that bad. But when I do ranked it's like total b.s. most of the time.
When I play this game, I want to play vs someone who plays baseball. thinks baseball. that's how I play. Like it's baseball, not run around the bases and exploit the game.
At least when I play the CPU I know it will play the game and manage the game like a real baseball manager would.
just give me an offline option for rewards and I'll be happy.

Im a mostly offline player but not because i dislike online. Im one of those people who gets sidetracked. I like to be able to pause and eat a sandwich, watch tv, forget about playing for an hour and jump right back into the 3rd inning of my mini seasons game. I grind offline on lower difficulties so i can play more games before the xp cap but i have no problem jumping up to all star for challenges or online play.
So in other words, you're a casual just like I figured. Before you pop a blood vessel with some argumentative and emotionally disturbed reply, just know that being a casual and non competitive gamer is fine. Not everyone can handle, nor keep up with the speed and hardcore competitiveness of ranked online play.
It's like guys who say they prefer playing underhand softball over Hardball. What they really mean to say Is, they're not very athletic and instead of embarrassing themselves playing a real men's sport, they can only handle 24mph lobbed balls down the middle hitting with a ball as big as a grapefuit..casual? it's a freaking video game. I actually played semi pro baseball when I was young. if you want to call people names do it compared to real life baseball. not some videogame.
i'm a hardcore MLB the Show player since the first one came out on PS2. I use to play online but I don't because 99 percent of the people playing online dont play baseball. They play exploit and win at all costs. Sometimes that use to help me win. When the other player would not move guys over with less than 2 outs etc.... But I dont play anymore for the various reasons people mentioned. But that doesn't mean I'm a 'casual' and not hardcore. I still play the heck out of the game DD offline and franchise and RTTS.

Online is boring. The game is basically can you hit a fastball on your setup or not. I can probably win 60-70% of my games online but it isn’t fun. A lot of people don’t have that competitive fire or get that fulfilled through actual things. Basketball, golfing, bowling, tennis or just everyday life and don’t log on to a game to get it. Especially one that has more to do with connection and set up more than skill a lot of time.
Cater to the majority not the louder majority. But seriously I don’t care wither way because the rewards are basically trash.
-
I think honestly it’s 100% due to a large amount of players that have little to zero plate discipline which gets totally exploited vs other players. Where as the cpu will eventually throw you something to hit , players will never give you anything hittable unless you force them to do so

I played baseball pretty much all yr long until I was in my early 20's. I played in the Carpenter cup 2 yrs in a row, Legion, HS varsity my Freshman yr, college with pro scouts watching me play since I was 12, and Semi Pro ball. Unfortunately, never made it to pro ball due to Tearing elbow ligaments in my pitching arm.
Anyway, the casual comment to that dude was from previous posts based on a debate/conversation regarding certain The Show topics. All I was pointing out and comparing was the way he plays the game compared to how I play the game.
He's more of a non serious casual gamer. Whereas I'm more competitive and serious just like I've been my whole life.
There's nothing wrong with being a casual gamer who enjoys the game their way.Btw, once you get to 500-600 skill level, most gamers I've played against play actual baseball. Whether it's strategically going to the pen for lefty lefty matchups, right righty, certain shifts put in place, etc. Ppl like me will check tendencies, and strategically pitch or look for certain pitches as a hitter based on those tendencies. Everything u see in real life.
When I play ppl, I will know 90% of the time how the player wants to pitch me, what pitches he will use, and where he will locate them. I've had bets with friends after 10 pitches, I will attempt to guess each pitch and location to see how many I get right compared to friends who will do the same.
So ya, I'm a pretty fk'n hardcore competitive gamer.

Well all that stuff about "players will see what you're trying to do and will let you get a hit with Boggs or steal a base" was a load of malarkey
-
@betamax0
Some will and some won’t. It’s hit and miss. If you are the home team and plunk Boggs with the first pitch most will get the idea.
-
@Shauwn Yes, some people would rather play a pickup sport than dedicate 10,000 hours of their life to train their body and mind to excel at it. Just like maybe you'll go to a bar trivia night and not know as much trivia as Ken Jennings. I guess because you're not a true brain warrior or something. Or bowling, or axe throwing, or any activity. Everyone makes choices with their time, and some ppl one or two interests and some have many, and that's normal, and you don't really have to say someone can't handle something or lacks some toughness because they don't want to get their heart rate & blood pressure up during videogames. That's dumb.

MLB the show is truly the worst online multiplayer game. And this is me not complaining, this is me stating mlb the show is the worst. There is nothing fun about it. It had always been play how you want and gain same rewards, until a few years ago. Then they forced you to play their side [censored] to gain the rewards. SDS has already been paid for their game, they get paid for stubs, why not let the consumer play without being forced.
-
Who cares

I would say Madden is the worst because that game lives on exploits for online.
just an observation with the Egg program online -
I asked people online to give me 2 doubles and walk boggs. On PS5, 2 guys told me they wouldn't. So I tried on Xbox and 2 guys let me do it no issue. They asked if I could do the same for them. It was cool.
Small sample size but I find generally the Xbox online crowd in this game is more friendly. Doesn't mean they won't exploit the game though.
-
@jmcdonald1817 Bruv…Madden is 100 times worse online. I wouldn’t even call it a football game anymore, It’s closer to a Marvel Avengers game honestly. Players don’t even matter in Madden, It’s all about abilities aka super powers. And the exploits are insane.

@fubar2k7 I totally understand that - completely man…All I was saying is if you don’t care about your H2H record and are just joining a game to get one hit in order to get a card you want then why not just suck it up for 10 minutes, get the card & then go back to playing offline modes. That’s all I was asking…To me it would be worth it, But I get it.
The reward at the end doesn’t warrant it for me. Replace Yelich with any Dodger and maybe. Where is the reward for playing every inning of 162 games of a franchise? They should toss one of those out there. It would probably be a Lou Gehrig or Cal Ripken.

Probably because the card would be for DD and 95% of the people that play DD arent gonna waste time in Franchise playing 162 nine inning games for a single card. And the people who would play 162 nine inning games in Franchise more than likely wouldnt care about earning a card that they probably would never use anyway.

So the amount of games was a bit much. I obviously said that because I am in the 1% who would get it that also will complete all the programs. The point is they don’t even make you play a single inning of a game to get an egg and we shouldn’t be forced to play an event game and BR game to get one. Even just a hit or homerun. I’ll do the Extreme Program twice over before going online again and facing these whiners in the forum.
-
@fubar2k7 Honestly to me, its not even a big deal. I understand why people dont like it though. I got the BR because i got into a game, saw my opponent had Boggs batting lead off. I intentionally walked him. When i had Boggs leading off the bottom of the inning, he returned the favor.
-
For me personally, I'll play online more so when my team gets more competitive so I can hang with people who have monster squads already.

That’s how it worked for you. Some people probably logged off once they got their intentional walk.
