I'm playing as a 2B. Multiple times now when defending, I start making my move to cover the base on a steal attempt, and after taking 2 strides my player just stops moving. Catcher still makes the throw to me, but the runner gets to the bag without a bit of resistance.
Has anyone else had this happen?

Yes, you're not moving soon enough is the issue

AI will only run him a few steps, you have to run him rest of the way, and quick too or he'll stop and you won't be able to move him

I just posted about this same thing actually. Even if actively running you stop short of the base and the catcher throws to you instead of the bag.

This issue has existed in the game for years. The defense experience for infield players is just not there.
I hope MLB 20 would be different based on Chris Gils presentation. But non of that presentation translated over to manual controlled fielding.
What patch is everyone playing on? I’m still on the day one release.

I'm absolutely moving early enough. I hold the thumb stick in the direction of second the entire time before the pitcher even makes his throw.

You have to cheat towards the base in order to get there on time. It's a stupid glitch that I have never experienced before this version and I always make a 2B Pokey Reese. I have given up on covering the base on the ground ball with 2 outs when a lefty is up. I just don't even run there, they figure it out. But yeah it happens on steals on covering the base in general. The only thing I haven't had an issue with is turning a double play.
