Despite what everyone seems to think
When you play p2p it still communicates with SDS’s servers from time to time.
Look. I play from Uk. At quiet US times. I play people in Japan. Australia. USA. 5-10000 miles away from me. I played on wifi about 10mb download.
To your point; Video games only use 0.5kb-1mb up and down per second. Streaming Netflix uses about 20x the bandwidth. Having 50gb or 20mb internet speed makes no difference.
I don’t have these issues you talk about. Ever.
It’s due to traffic at the time you play.
To sort this SDS need to have their own dedicated servers dotted around the world in the cloud to sort this problem.
In summary having super fast internet makes no difference. It’s SDS who need to sort out
A. How it works when you play each other. A baseball game shouldn’t have lag. It’s not exactly fast paced.
B. Have dedicated servers. -
SDS uses AWS servers, and I think they have stations world wide. I mean, it’s Amazon for Pete’s sake.
-
@Blind_Bleeder
Without getting too technical AWS is just a cloud that the servers sit on.
They can have servers completely provided by AWS but likely they’ll
Have their own cloud servers/infra sitting on AWS they still need their own code to work properly network wise.
If they use AWS for everything then I’d be surprised as they’re super expensive. -

The difference is not in the server quality or provider, but in the networking source code of the game. There's a difference between p2p connection gaming and dedicated server connection gaming. MLBTS has always used, and probably will continue to use, p2p connections unfortunately. This means that the connection quality of the user does make an impact and other factors, such as lag compensation, are often implemented in p2p infrastructures to ensure that 1 player who has a significantly better quality internet connection, will not have a clear advantage in the gameplay.

And don't ask me how a slider down and away can leave the pitchers hand, moving away from the batter, then all of a sudden make a U-Turn and fly up behind the batter.
I can answer this one. The same way one bullet killed JFK and hit Governor Connelly. Naturally.

@iBonafideScrub_
Right. I’ve gone back to early August in game history.
I’ve never played you.
And if I did pre August
There is no chance you remembered playing me. Unless you think I’m someone else.
I’ve also had others on this forum who have played me from the US and said connection was good.
-
Plus I’ve even watched myself when playing twitch streamers and it’s fine.
-
@lewisnadasurf1_PSN connections differ from game to game though. Just because you had a good connection 9 games in a row doesn't guarantee the 10th game will be good too. Just saying.
-
@raesONE- of course. But this guy is saying he remembers playing me and it was bad. But I’ve never played him.
I don’t get these problems. What do you want me to say. That I’m always lucky?
The whole point of this thread was someone saying about internet speed -

Wow. I can dump Xfinity, break out my 14.4 modem, get dial-up service, and still play. That will save me a ton of $$

The whole point of this thread was someone saying about internet speedIdk if he was implying that you're always lucky, and I also don't know if you guys actually played or not. All I'm saying is that connection in this game is a really inconsistent and often annoying variable that can completely make or break your online gaming experience.

@X-FREEZE-OFF-X
If your opponent has poor upload speed, then you will also notice lag. In addition to your isp, Sony's servers have a cap of a download/upload ratio %. Sony needs to allot more for upload speed. The PS portal users are dealing with this issue. Your home network's upload speed, via your PS5, is very important.I have a very good, hard wired, home network setup for my PS5. However, my upload speeds are extremely lower than my download speeds, when using my PS5. My other devices have good upload speeds though, it is just the PS5, which is very frustrating.

Don't use the PS5 network test, it's notoriously inaccurate. You should unplug the ethernet cable that goes into your PS5 and plug it in a laptop or PC, then run an independent speed test. Those are the actual numbers that your PS5 receives.

@Blind_Bleeder
Haha. I used to be able to play rocket league tethering off my phone on my ps4 with about 80
Ping.But yeah. It’s a very small amount.

I’ll check my history later and let you know but I remember every user from the forums I play against, especially because I do not play too many games, I remember laggy games more than the rest if the user is known to me.
Maybe you were the recipient of the good aide of lag compensation, IDK. You said 10MB is good to play online over WiFi.
Is this your current speed?
-
@iBonafideScrub_
My speed then was about 20mb down. Last month much higher as upgraded.
My ping on other games is generally 20-30
Please do check.

I checked, it was another forum user, I got it confused with you. Please accept my apologies, I do not know what made me believe that game was against you.
