Don't start new road to show or you lose everything with old one

Woke up this morning to find out my player lost his states and lost his skill set just bc I wanted to start a different character I can't tell you how upset I am about this like all My hard work gone just bc they can't make w good game thanks you devs for this crappy game. Never ever buy a mlb the show game again

The obvious question is did you do it correctly? You can create multiple ballplayers. This, I don't believe is handled through the RTTS mode like it was in the past, but from the Ballplayer menu.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w8Rk2Fn73AThen you select the Ballplayer you want to use (or create a new one) before you start a new RTTS. If you chose to start a new RTTS career with the same player selected as your previous RTTS character you will most likely overwrite the save.

@Dolenz thanks didn't lose my player, this new way they have it sucks.
