PS5 Controller Sensitivity
-
Lately I've been having issues with both of my PS5 controllers.
The D-Pad, Joystick, and L1/R1 Bumper Buttons have been acting weird.
Ex. I was trying to set my bunt defense and after i paused the game and tried to select that option: it skipped right over it and went three tabs over.
Also when I'm trying to set a price for a card; the cursor jumps around to different numbers than what I'm trying to select.
I don't think it's drift, even though the joysticks do the same, as it also happens with the D-Pad.
The controllers are only 7 mos old and I'd hate to have to replace them.
Any suggestions?

Have you updated the controller software? They PS5 controllers have updates every once in a while. They usually come up automatically for me. Not sure how to check if they’re up to date.

Anything blocking the path between your controller and console? Sounds dumb, but if I'm sitting in bed playing and the dog is sitting with me or in my face...my controller will "Lose Signal" and do crazy stuff like that.

Hey this might be a very good idea for something to try. I could be wrong but I think if you plug in the controller via usb to the console and then turn it on(the controller) while still plugged in it should trigger the update or at least it should trigger the check to see if an update is needed.
When I first read your post I immediately suspected the dpad rather than the sticks. Those seem to be more prone to sticking at least in my experience. I’m not sure if it would do anything but you could try swabbing them with an alcohol dampened Qtip and following that up with a blast or two of canned air to dry it. Just a little debris in there can cause this and it’s certainly worth the try. I like the software update idea even more though. The fact that it sounds like you’re experiencing this with multiple controllers makes me lean towards what @fubar2k7 suggested.
Hope you get it nipped in the bud partner

I checked this before logging into the game. The way to check if the software is up to date is as follows.
Settings
Accessories
Controller (General)6th one down tells you if it is.
DualSense Wireless Controller Device Software
Mine says 0402 up to date. Perhaps if not up to date it’ll let you update it right there. I don’t plug them in to update them.

My only other suggestion would be trying to play while connected to the console with the cable and see if you still have the same problems.

They are still under warranty so consider returning them for replacements if none of the above tips work
