I would give my first born to have a hitting engine actually determined by input

I will be the first to tell you that I also have instances where the insane RNG plays to my advantage - we all do. But today has been an absolute nightmare.
-
I lost a game today because my opponent had a two-out early swing grand slam that ultimately decided the game. And even that wouldn't be so bad except TWICE I had the bases loaded and two outs and then proceeded to line out directly at somebody with a good/good swing.
-
I played a guy who was obviously sitting fastball the whole game. So in the middle innings he goes ahead on a three-run homer with an early swing on a absolutely dotted low, outside splitter. I came back and went ahead in the bottom of the 8th and then he hit a go-ahead homer in the 9th on an early swing on a low off speed pitch that was actually out of the strike zone.
I understand that sometimes you're going to square the ball up and hit it hard for an out. And I understand that sometimes you're going to do things wrong, get weak contact, and get lucky with a base hit. But why on God's green earth are we allowing people to have horrible input and then rewarding them with THE BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME. This blows my freakin' mind! We've taken the hardest thing to do in sports, which is hit a baseball, and diluted it down to literally only two things: the timing of when you hit the button and if you put the PCI on the ball. And then SDS, in all their glory, has basically decided to make one of those things meaningless. I don't get it and I don't understand how, over the years, the RNG aspect has actually gotten worse instead of better. We now have a game where you can literally be told your input was "perfect perfect" and fly out to the warning track but be "very ealry" on your swing input and rocket one over the wall.

I understand and it is beyond ridiculous at times. I dealt with it in a game last night where I have a 1-0 lead and am throwing a perfect game threw 4 innings ( with several of those rockets you referenced earlier right at a fielder with guys on to end potential rally’s).
Guy decides he will start contact swinging ( his prerogative), but it’s during one of those at bats where he is down 2-2 in the count and fouls off 7 straight pitches that are bouncing in the dirt, literally hitting him on sliders inside, and a foot over the zone. I have seen this movie before and know it’s only a matter of time until the RNG will hang a pitch and the guy is going to hit a bomb…1 more foul ball and then a pinpoint slider executed perfectly starts off going down and in where it was aimed suddenly teleports into the middle of the plate and……yeah, makes me wonder why I support this game as have to think SDS is laughing somewhere…

- No top spin, you can hit a liner and watch it hang until an OF with below average speed tracks it down to the gap

I understand this game try’s to appease to try hards, casuals, ppl that want an arcade baseball game and ppl that want a true baseball sim game which I feel makes this game hitting and pitching engine makes 0 sense. Ther is 0 control of what you want to do in this game. The goal in this game is to hit and throw perfects. Which is a terrible Idea they could have bc baseball is far from being getting the perfect swing or pitch. This game lacks true control of hitting. There is no way to stay on the ball, go oppo, or any of that. If you try and go oppo or pull the ball with the pci or change the swing time it’ll be an out 99% of the time and that 1% bring a fluke. Pci and timing means nothing if it’s not a perfect and even if then you’ll still get an out. Hitting engine makes no sense due to the RNG aspect of it. I can swing at the same fastball in the same spot on the strike zone 10 times a get the same pci and swing placement, there will be 10 different results. I understand baseball is random but when I played and I got the same results majority of the time when I did the same thing, if I got my hand out in front of a fast fall I would pull it and so on but not in mlb the show. Hitting engine makes 0 sense. There’s no true control og hitting in this game. Rng shouldn’t be a way a game determines the outcome of hitting. You can be spot on with the pci and barrel the ball up and have early or late timing and get a pop up to first but then be under the ball with the pci and good timing and get the same result. What controls what? It’s abysmal. You can hit a perfect line out against a 69 ovr pitcher with 125 pow n contact but hit a no doubter when facing p5 Randy while hitting with a 87 ovr hitter that has 86 contact and 57 power and won’t be on the ball with the pci and be very early or late.. the hitting engine makes 0 sense along with the pitching engine.

Ultimate team modes have just gotten so money hungry, they could care less how the game actually performs. They just want the game to play in way that will influence you to spend more money on it.
The floating pitches, excessive foul balls, not being rewarded on good input, is all just to even the playing field. The casuals feel like they have a chance with these things in the game, and the skilled might think, “well if I had a card with 5 more contact I would’ve won”. Both influence spending.

I picture a hand off screen above my Monitor/TV grabbing the ball and holding it until the fielder gets close then releasing it. Sometimes it is like it just never comes down.

Man I wish I could play a game where this stuff would help me win hahaha. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I hardly ever play online but when I do, I get destroyed.

You said it. It’s especially odd when you go to instants replay and “become the baseball” only to follow the trajectory still going up 5/6 of the way to the fence only for it to suffer from a dual flame out and simply fall from the sky like a stizzone.

I'd like to know what the Magic Number for LA and Velo is to Stay in the Yard vs. Clear fence cause...105 MPH and 20 degrees doesn't cut it apparently

Last post for a while because I’ll be out of commission. If you really want to know why all of these oddities happen in this game, just Google “Player Retention” read all you can about it and then you may get some understanding. Is it maddening?,yes of course but it’s all about the greenbacks plain and simple. Tex out.

Really? Your first born? I mean if it is a daughter I get it...

That's too funny! Me and Noah Syndergaard over here just giving away our kids for things LOL

Due to the fact that it's a digital baseball and a digital bat , there has to be some level of rng involved as no real physics are taking place . The rng is influenced by your timing , pci placement, pitchers attributes and hitters attributes. If there is anything else contributing to the rng like trying to make the losing player catch up by secretly boosting his rng , yeah I would be opposed to that . It never seems to work in my favor though . When I'm losing , I just loose , I don't get the secret boost.

This I agree with , they need to add top spin to liners , but that would cause some potential Homers to not be Homer's and some will complain about that.

Well I’d rather have that than the homer fest on bad swings with crappy timing outside of the zone that we have now. Maybe they could just make the game play right online instead of calling their crappy netcode All-Star+ to cover up the fact each game is different and the timing changes from inning to inning.

Just played an event game and gave up 5 hits in a row on very early and late swings on pitches outside of the zone. Wtf is SDS doing at this point this game has gone so far down hill. That literally proves very little about this game is working correctly at the current moment.
-
I believe the baseball game you are looking for exists.
In live roster and regular mode.
Your primary problem to me is unrealistic power at 125
The game plays tighter when the players are lower rated.
The ultimate team mode has the game maxrd out and in there lies your problem.
I hit a homer revently with LS ced mullins that was the longest i have hit this year on a perfect
The developers have only one game engine to work with and seems overwhelmed by the 125’s

Thought you were done with online as of yesterday?
