Am I misunderstanding conquest?
-
Is the preferred goal to only actually play the stronghold matches and sim thru all the others or is there some advantage to playing the games? Does it give better xp/rewards than vs cpu for grinding? I just keep finding out new things I’ve missed I’d like to be sure this isn’t one of them. I will say that I’ve noticed the games on Rookie do appear to be strangely more difficult than the next two levels up but would’ve never caught that one without y’all on this forum.

There is no reason to play anything but stronghold games. The only thing you gain by stealing fans or playing random games on the map is playing XP.

I think the other posters are right except in certain exceptions like the US Map and hopefully we get Extreme this year. The Kraken map definitely needed steals as a strategy, not just to complete a goal. But for these maps, just destroy everything in your path. Plus, Veteran and All Star plays better on conquest than Rookie.

My favorite mode.
Great when u don’t have much timeI play in all star with a team ranked no higher than 82.
More fun

I also sim those games but you can play them if you want the stats.

Thanks to all, seriously. Just making sure I wasn’t simulating my way past some sort of benefit that could help the ol cause. I think I’ll use conquest to get my last 6IP and 3 saves to finish the new program might be a fun way to finish

At some point you will need to contact me or Cliff on how to exactly do it.

I have a new stream that shows how to do an entire map (well, okay, it's broken into three videos).

This! 100% This.
When you steal fans, you are (obviously) taking fans from the stronghold(s). When you strengthen your position by reinforcing, they reinforce too. On a small map, this is no big deal, but on larger maps, you will quickly find every space filled with fans, and you will have to keep reinforcing just to sim them. This is as close to a perpetual motion machine as you will ever find.

I had watched one of those streams you did earlier and it was a conquest map as well (ended in a nail biting cliff hanger I might add), but I only remember seeing your game footage I should’ve paid better attention to what was said beforehand perhaps. I’m interested I’ve thought about trying to tackle on of those bigger maps but was just trying to hold off until I had some better idea of what was going on.
I’m kind backwards (you hush @TEXAS10PT_PSN) when it comes to video vs text. I can devour print but I get super distracted in videos and especially when they have a room loaded full of neat trinkets…at that point I’m just totally lost…

Oh no…haha no, Mission Control does not trinkets contain! Not a one. Those are TREASURES! I imagine opening the closet to Mission Control and it opening up to the warehouse at the end of Indiana Jones…

Ahhh, another who appreciates historical items. My wife calls it junk LOL. She can't understand why I have a box full of five and a quarters...but why get rid of them, I have a PC with the correct drive and Win98

Ahhh back when a floppy disk really was! I believe I still have a copy of quickdos lying around here (I know precisely where it is) somewhere meself. I’ve also got Sprit of Excalibur on 5.25 as well but, alas, no way to play it. 🥺

QuickDOS - I have QuickBasic...and it's loaded on my win98 machine...
I also have Zork...and the later editions of Zork II and Zork III (which weren't as good). All on floppies and all playable...
