Right from the terms of service at https://theshow.com/mlb-the-show-online-code-of-conduct/
You may not cheat, exploit or use any bugs, glitches, vulnerabilities or unintentional game mechanics in PlayStation Network or any of its products or services to obtain an unfair advantage.
They probably won't ban anyone for this, but you never know. Just fair warning.
I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but don't want anyone to get hurt, either.I get what you’re saying but in this case it’s a bug from their update. The individual users are not necessarily doing anything to glitch or exploit the game. Like I only found it because I wanted to sell some duplicates and the app was filtering random common cards to the top of my inventory
But it literally says you “cannot exploit bugs”
I can definitely see them banning people for this because it hurts their bottom line- which is $$$$
Yeah but what are people exploiting, they’re selling cards from their inventory. Other people are buying them. Some people were simply clearing duplicates from their binder. So they should just hold onto these cards for fear they’ll be banned by selling them. It’s one thing to actively be buying and selling these cards to maximize profit, but people selling inventory they had would be a ridiculous ban
Hey man dude just laid out the TOS from sds themselves
Clearly states “don’t exploit bugs”
This is exploiting a bug to manipulate the market- like I said I wouldn’t do it it’s not worth it to me
Make 50k($40) stubs but get banned to have to start all over again($100’s) is just not something that excites
Can’t tell you what or what not to do- just giving my advice
-
its way more then 100-200 people just saying. Its been on twitch all morning. This spread across the whole community.

Well you never know what SDS will do so it is still a risk.
Why didn't this people clear their duplicates before this morning?
I don't fully know the extent of the issue but if people were able to buy on the market at their normally bronze prizes and then minutes later quick sold the card for a profit then they are knowingly exploiting. They should be able to tell whether a person sold one or two duplicates vs those who sold all of the affected cards they owned or purchased cards at a cheaper price to simply turn around and sell them at glitched qiuick sell prices.
You know it is a glitch/bug. I know it is a glitch/bug. We then must take responsibility for our own decisions whether we should exploit it or not.

Also what are you going to do about people opening packs right now and pulling Commons with Gold badge? Is SDS going to ban pack openers too who bought packs or had packs in store and have no clue about this and just automatically quick sell everything they get unless its a diamond.

As I mentioned in the above post, they should have a way to determine someone who sold one or two cards and may not have realized what is happening vs those who tried to exploit it to the max.

How many people of the millions of sds customers do you think watches twitch all day long? You’re right it’s more than 200
But I’d say it evens out to about 1000
And I don’t think sds has an issue banning 1000 people- and that’s even saying every single one of the 1000 twitch viewers did it.
If half of them(500) did this I can see sds banning 500 ppl no problem
They know the banned customers are just going to start all over again and spend even more money anyway
-
Like I said its all over twitch/twitter.. More then 1000 people... Just FYI... Also they still have not fixed the Cap glitch for everyone who never took their CAP out before the patch. There are still people using their fully maxed out CAP on the mound and in their line up for over 2 weeks since the patch. You expect them to ban people for quick selling commons. Relax...

Banned users can't just purchase the game again, they will be banned from online play for the rest of the year.
The only way around it is to purchase the console you weren't on before (PS/XBOX), buy the game, and create a new account.
It was easily thousands of people that did it. Just look at the buy now/sell now orders in the market.

Again, not judging right/wrong, but I just wanted to weigh in on the idea that "other people are buying them".
We had this discussion on another thread a few weeks ago and the consensus seemed to be that not every transaction here involves two actual players in the game. That is, SDS may use their own bots to fill buy and sell orders, much like EA does on the FIFA marketplace. Similar to the way a central bank works, it's just an efficient way to regulate the money supply and promote market liquidity. So the stubs you pocket might be the company's.
-
It is not exploiting a bug. There is no workaround to list below quicksell value. Never has been. We didn't change the values.

I never said buy the game again- I said start over meaning they will start from scratch and if you think they are grinding from scratch and won’t buy stubs to get things done quicker then idk what to tell you
And if you think sds won’t ban 1000 people for making the company lose money then idk what to tell you either lol
Millions of people buy this game- banning 1000 wouldn’t hurt them at all
But as the kids say, “do you”…
Just something I wouldn’t do at all- this is something that sds would def ban ppl for because it makes them lose money and it’s in the tos “don’t exploit bugs”

Fair, but if they ban people who made like 20k just selling what they had when their own software was the only reason I even found and posted this here so be it.

If they could have one update without breaking something, that would be great.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Their code is held together by duck tape, paper clips, and a prayer.
They should have used COBOL and an AS/400. That would be bulletproof.
P.S. I know that less than 2% of the forum will get this. But as an old guy, this is comedy gold.

It is exploiting a bug because well- it’s a bug that we are all aware of lol.
Hey man do you- I’m just stating my two cents bc I don’t want to see people banned
But if you think sds won’t ban people for exploiting a known bug before it gets fixed- and said bug is market manipulation and making the company lose money then you just don’t know sds very well

Yeah I mean i always clear out duplicates the day before an update in case of inflated prices from anticipated upgrades. These cards were appearing above my silvers and bronzes. So i sold them. Feel like the people who just sold what they had are fine.
There are multiple other bugs and exploits being used for xp, stubs and in online gameplay that have yet to be addressed. The ballplayer and ohtani reliever glitches to name a few. -
They have 82OVR Devers marked as a Common. It still costs 900 stubs to by him. But still.

As a VERY old guy, I’ve worked with an As/400!!
-
The people who really took advantage of this did it hours ago. They bought up everything single gold (common free agent) listed under 900 and quicksold. Way before this thread was even started.

As another old guy, I am currently managing a project to decommission an AS400 that runs a bunch of Cobol scripts.

That would be the manipulating part. Selling off 1-2 players; maybe not.
