My take on Programs that include Showdown.

Is Showdown the only one that should be optional?
Can we make the moments optional?
Can we make the PxP missions optional?I personally probably won't finish the Charisma program because of the way the PxP missions are structured, which now that I am at 60 points goes like this.
- Put these Charisma players you don't care about in your lineup.
- Finish three of their PxP missions
- Earn another player you don't care about and put him in the lineup.
- Finish two more PxP missions
- Earn another player you don't care about and put him in the lineup.
- Finish three PXP missions
- Earn another player you don't care about and put him in the lineup.
- Finish two more PxP missions
It would not be as bad if they did not spoon feed you the players so slowly that you are going to have to play with these players for multiple games/hours to earn the PxP for them.
So yeah, let me repeat the Showdown and a couple of moments for those last 40 points.
But i am not asking that. Instead I look at the program and look at the rewards and tasks and then ask myself "Do I want to do these tasks for that reward". If the answer is yes then I bite the bullet and do them. If the answer is No then I will just move on to something else. In the case of the Charisma program the answer is No, none of the rewards are tempting me to go through the PxP grind to earn them.

Now, first off, I did complete the Charisma showdown. It took me a few tries. But I completed it.
That being said; I DO NOT think it should be mandatory.
The time I spent trying to get the 30 pts could've been spent elsewhere. Doing Missions, Playing BR, etc.
I would like SDS to go back to the formula where there are multiple ways to complete a program.
Even if they don't want to make a PXP Mission repeatable; they can incorporate a Collection. They can include a Conquest Map. They can include Exchanges.
Heck, this Showdown was worth 30pts.
Do a Collect 'X' amount of Charisma cards for 20 pts and an Exchange for 10pts.
Do a Conquest Map for 30pts.
You can keep the Showdown in the program; but give us options.
ESPECIALLY IF THE REWARDS ARE NON SELLABLE AND ARE TIED TO A SPECIFIC SET
Get good.

I don’t think of myself as a good hitter. I swing at way too many pitches and once I get to the high 600’s and 700’s, I start losing to better players almost immediately. But Showdowns are really easy. Every once in awhile I’ll choke and lose one, but more often than not, I find them pretty easy. Does that mean I’m a better hitter than I think? There’s so much complaining about Showdown that I’m starting wonder. They aren’t as fun as playing a RS game, but I find them reasonably enjoyable.

Typical keyboard warrior answer. Re-read my post. I said I completed it. While it did take me a few entries; I eventually completed it. I'm just saying that it would've been a better use of my time playing something that could've given PXP to my players.
I'm not asking for them to not include Showdown. I'm asking them to give us options.

This is not about are showdowns easy or not and IF that is all you see your missing the point of the OP. I have a few issues with how Showdowns are now done.
- Why are we paying an entry fee into something that does not even award packs anymore at least the one's to this point have not had packs.
- Also seems like the there are no more optional fail missions now it's fail and you can pay ANOTHER 500 stubs for a new entry. This is something I find to be complete horseBEEP
- We are being pushed into them like this program and to be fair this is the 1st program that has been like this so IF this was a test case for SDS -- I have your results --- It was a complete FAILURE
SDS I am going to tell you this right now I do not mind doing showdowns but to be pushed into them is complete garbage and it needs to stop NOW.
-
Not every program needs to be completed if you don't like the modes involved. I play offline and have accepted that the egg hunt will be incomplete. It sucks but I'm not going waste time playing modes I don't enjoy for a couple cards when there are already viable alternatives.

Just as an FYI, at least in the Charisma Showdown, if you finish the first 4 bosses then you have earned you stubs back. Anything beyond that and you are actually making more stubs than you are spending.
-
Why is it people just miss the point it's not the cost of the entry or again IF it's easy or not it's that it kind of takes the choice out of the players hand and pushes them into it and the fact the entry fee kind of seems out of place too. If SDS fanboys do not get this then they have more problems then being joined at SDS's rear end with there lips. I know I am getting rude and maybe crossing a line but as much and I know at times my comments make it seem like i hate the game i do not. I want to LOVE this game but SDS does things over and over again to make me think less of them and until they get the BEEP together I have no issue calling them out on it.

The showdowns are on veteran and so fast to get through. I don’t see the problem
Sure, they're on Veteran, but really Veteran + and higher, with Sliders cranked the way they crank 3K's in one inning Moments. They obviously crank the batter aggressiveness. I did a Charisma one where Machado flailed away!
Fielders field like they're on HOF/Legend. We're not stupid, or bad players. If I ever get good at PCI placement, I can be a serious player online, if I wanted to do RS, which I still have a low desire to play. I like online team play instead, in NHL, and the REC room in NBA 2K. That is more fun than playing solo here, imo.

I love Showdown... should it be mandatory? Depends on the program... if it's mandatory it should be free though but besides that I'm all for it. Actually beat the West TA last night and my game recording clocked in at under an hour... well worth it in my opinion.
-
I do think they need to tone down the Defense...It's a showdown against a Pitcher...not the team. Some of these Common, Bronze, and even Silver defenders shouldn't be making some of the insane web gem plays they're making.
-
I agree with this and the 5000 pxp with charisma players should be repeatable. Like with team infinity you can just play using a team players and rack up the pxp. I know it takes longer, but at least you can gain this with the team you like and want to use.
-
It took 3 or 4 hours to get a 97 ovr Castillo…This would take weeks or months to earn a comparable card in Madden or NBA2K. To complain about having to complete a Showdown on veteran difficulty is absurd.

https://twitter.com/LetsgoMetsgo/status/1650222443573784579?t=gD7z7Oo2MDltkvsJN4di4g&s=19This^^^^^^. Yeah they say Veteran but just look at the size of the PCI in feedback after a swing. No way that's the real size of the PCI on Veteran. Took me 8 or 9 tries to finish WBC Showdown and took me 1 try to do Charisma. Some are harder than others and some drafted players are better than others. But if you are going to call it Veteran, don't use HOF Sliders. We are on to you SDS LOL.
-
I only play 2 games so I can't speak to a trend, but this forced play mode that requires a buy in and an increase in unsellable rewards was a bigger problem (feature?) in FIFA this year too. It must make the developers more money, though, so I would guess it's here to stay

Another clown with the "Git gud" comment LMAO. You realize no one writes that junk here anymore right? And no your comment was not directed at me, but when I see someone with that cheesy , ridiculous, stale comment ...I gotta say something

Showdowns is pretty much 7-8 moments and its always "score a run before making 8-10 outs with a runner on 2nd" or something stupid. If you can't score a single run before making 8-10 outs, maybe this isnt the game for you. Stop swinging at trash and make an effort. It won't kill you.

Last night I told myself I wasn't going to repeatedly do the West Affinity Showdown multiple times and yeah, just ran through it in 40 minutes or so on one attempt... it doesn't hurt that the West division players allowed for me to possibly put together my best draft of players... that All-Star Gallo Gold card and the Silver Live Series Haniger both with multiple walkoffs... also kept Team Captain Altuve and Charisma Pena at 1-2 in the lineup all the way through not to mention picking up JD Martinez card from time with Arizona and Charisma Juan Soto... man that team was stacked!
One thing that changed the game for me was in addition to not swinging at balls out of the strikezone, sometimes you have to take a strike if the pitch isn't going in a spot where you can really get a good swing on it.
Patience and situational awareness will win you these Showdowns for sure!
