State of the game

I’ve been borderline WS and mostly CS in the last few years but I can’t get past 700 this year. Always been no money spent but I still have a really good mostly diamond team and normally I’m decent. But jeez this year I got the home run and bloop shot bug. Everybody I play it feels like takes every pitch near the zone for a ball and hammers every off speed i throw for a home run or they get a terrible swing and find a hole. It also feels like every hard hit ball i get is an out not to mention I get 8-10 good/ok swings to the wall a game. I’m not here to say the game is bad or anything or that I hate the game it’s just like what am I missing. I’m at a point where I’m giving up 6 or 7 home runs in ranked games. I’ll battle and make it a game but I can’t win giving up so many bombs. I just don’t know what to do at this point. The only way I get guys out is spamming up and in fastball and I hate to play like that but all these kids do is sit off speed low.

Whether you are for real or not...the game is pretty much a scripted animation-generated outcome. You're likely to go the next several games and be the one hitting 8 or 9 bombs. It's 70% AI script, 20% player ratings, 10% skill. So, you can chase the best cards and help yourself a little. Practice a lot and help yourself a little less. Or, just kick back and let the AI decide the game...which is the norm.

Quite a few people sit low off speed because they can't hit anything else. I just keep pumping fastballs to these people. I'll show off speed pitches but try to make sure they are out of the zone. You can still throw low fastballs too, just try to keep them inside. I had a player yesterday in an event game that had a good swing on a first pitch change up. Figured he was sitting off speed and low and started throwing nothing but fastballs. Shut the guy out. If you find a scab, you have to pick it.
The reason people are taking so many pitches is because pitching is screwed up and there are a lot of balls being thrown right down the middle. They are simply waiting for one of those pitches.

I see this A LOT. People waiting on the curve. Heat way up or curves and changes in the dirt and they swing. every. time.

It’s not real baseball but in 19 when I’d play guys that take everything and hit everything, I started throwing pitches you’d never throw in real life. High curves, high outside change ups, high inside sliders, etc. it seemed to get them over thinking and opened up the lower part of the zone.

That is mainly because those people are playing on tv’s, they really don’t have a choice because getting around the the high and in fastball is not an option.

That is mainly because those people are playing on tv’s, they really don’t have a choice because getting around the the high and in fastball is not an option.
I play on a tv; I sit FB and adjust on offspeed, or adjust to what they throw if they pound a spot. Once you time the fastball, it’s doable.

I guess I should have said low input. My tv does not allow me to hit the high and in FB without fully committing. It was best to let those go and sit offspeed. Switched to monitor and am now early on that pitch.
