Bought Captain's Version but PS5 download not showing up

I bought the Captain's Version, which comes with a code for all the digital content, including a full download for PS5. I redeemed the code, but the download of the actual game on my PS5 is nowhere to be found. What am I doing wrong here?

Do you have your PS4 disc in your drive?
Also, you have to have that disc in the drive to play, even after you download the PS5 version.

Ya, I saw somewhere else after posting this that you have to put the physical PS4 disc in. Seems weird but also seems to be working. Makes me wonder what would have happened if I'd had the digital only version of the PS5...

You wouldn't be able to load the program because you have to use the PS4 disc first. With a digital only console, you are locked into digital versions of games. You don't need a disc with the digital version. I think this is their way of making sure you don't give the PS4 disc to a friend after you download the PS5 version.

I bought the Captains edition physical copy. If my son redeems the ps5 upgrade and the bonuses on his account (im being a nice dad), can I then play the ps5 version as well or will I be stuck with ps4 version. since the upgrade was on his account

I don't know. You will have both copies of the game on your console. The game is tied to an account. My guess is you could play two separate games, but that is only a guess. You may both be able to play the PS5 version since it will already be installed on the console...unless games aren't available across accounts, but I think they are. Regardless, it can't hurt to try.

I don’t understand why my transaction history says that I redeemed and purchased the Captain Edition, yet it also says I purchased the PS5 free upgrade. Does the Captain Edition code work as an add-on to the original game?

It isn't an add-on. That edition comes with a PS4 disc that you need to install the game with. Then you can use the code to access the PS5 version and install that also. You end up having two versions of the game on your console. In addition, when you play, you have to have the disc in the console, regardless of the version you play.

I own the Digital based PS5, so i dont have a disk drive. does this mean i cant download it then?
