MLB 19 Plays Better

Lately I’ve been playing previous versions of the show including 19, 20, 21, and 22. I’m fairly new to DD, started in 20, and mostly play offline. I’m fairly confident that 19 plays much better and more consistently. The hitting feels more reliable, it’s easier to hit the gaps, and generally just feels like a more enjoyable experience. From 20 forward it feels like the more they changed the worse gameplay has gotten. It is truly eye opening to see how bad gameplay has slipped. Hopefully 23 gets back to basics because gameplay should be more than lineouts, endless fly balls, ridiculous diving plays and everything else that makes the game feel like pure RNG madness. This isn’t so much a rant as an observation. For long time players of the game where do you think the gameplay went wrong and what is your favorite version of the show?
