Bring Back the Auto-Baserunning Windows!
-
What a horrible decision! (and yes, I've read the patch notes... there's no reasoning for the decision)
When fielding, I now can't tell if a runner has decided to run and impedes my decision on which base I should throw to, particularly when there are runners on multiple bases. I'm literally throwing blind.
When running, I can no longer decide to override the auto-baserunning decision. And I have no idea if I'm about to score on a Sac fly from 3rd as I can't see the runner (let alone an indication on where he might be between bases).
There seems to be no reason why this function had to be removed.
Suddenly, The Show 19 becomes a much more enjoyable game to play.

If you play with auto fielding and auto throwing and auto base running then it is perfectly fine, otherwise it is totally game breaking. If you play with any only one or two of those options on auto the game is literally unplayable. Also, get rid of the blue circle under the players on auto fielding.

Here’s an example.
I’ve just caught a ball in right field for the 2nd out with a runner on 1st. Is the 1st base runner advancing to 2nd? I have no idea. I can’t see him and have no indication as to where he is between bases.
Should I throw to 2nd or perhaps he ran too far before the catch and I should instead try to get him out at 1st.
I’m literally throwing blind here.
It wasn't broke... it didn't need fixing.

From what you’ve described this sounds like a definite unintended result of the change and will probably be remedied in an upcoming patch. Either it wasn’t considered to be a problem when only one of* base running or fielding was set to auto (unlikely) or it wasn’t tested under those conditions and therefore nobody realised how problematic it would be.
Either way it would be nice to know why the base running HUD was removed because even with both baserunning and fielding set to auto it’s nice to watch what the base runners are doing, builds anticipation for potential close plays.
Unless it created a problem, I agree, it didn’t need ‘fixing’.
*EDITED: corrected ‘one off’ to ‘one of’

Why in the hell would you get rid of this feature?!?! How am I suppose to know if I can send the base runner or now, I can't memories all their speeds! Some players can leg out doubles where some I need to hold at 1!!! Please put the base running window back in for offence immediately. Thanks.

Or there's a runner on first and you get a ground ball deep in the hole, you have no way of knowing if you have a play at 2nd or should go straight to first.

Haha I love patch 1.06, I call this patch "reduce noobs patch" cause it forces you guys to control your base runners like it was intended. Man up and stop your hands being held people, control every aspect of your baseball team, I can't wait for patch 1.07 where they remove automatic fielding, thanks SDS!!
The complaints here seem to be about not being able to judge where a runner is when fielding the ball. eg is the runner on 1st heading for home on a ball hit into the outfield gap. Nothing to do with automatic baserunning being on.

I play with auto baserunning on and I love that I'm able to override CPU decisions and try for an extra base or stop an overly aggressive runner. I find the baserunning controls way too difficult when there are multiple baserunners and auto + manual override has been my favorite way of playing since they introduced. it. With this change, I can't do that, I have no idea where anyone is. Just hit a ball down the line, is my runner going for 2? Where is he when the fielder gets to the ball? Should I send him back to first? Was he even trying for second? Do I need to change my in play view to retro so I can see the [censored] runner? Why would they make this change? I literally do not want to boot it back up until they revert this.

This is the first time I looked into this forum because I found this issue so frustrating.
I am glad to see it was not just myself screwing up my settings.
I hope they revert this part of the latest patch very soon. -
Looks like 1.07 is the patch for this. I think my previous assumption was wrong. Must be they already knew it was a problem in 1.06 testing, decided to release it anyway (lesser of two evils compared to changing or pulling1.06) with the intention of patching it immediately with 1.07. That makes a lot of sense.

I'm about to download it. You'd think if they knew about it in testing and released it anyway knowing they would patch it a day later, they could at least have explained that in the patch notes.
Not even a hint of an apology or explanation from SDS (which seems to be their norm)

Oh man thank goodness it’s not just me. I played last night and was wondering if I was going crazy. Like why the heck would they get rid of something that important to simply just play the game
