Insane Foul Ball Behavior…
-
I hit a foul ball that did something incredibly odd. I sliced an inside pitch (which I swung WAY too soon on) that was headed about 20 rows deep in the stands out in Left, but as it was falling, the ball made a 90 degree turn and, like a heat seeking missile, went right to the left fielder for an out! It looked to hover right above the fans as it made its dastardly trip! I captured it to file on the PS5, but really have no clue how to get it on here in order to show it, but I’m sure I could eventually get it figured out. Before I go and do all that though, I thought I should come on here and see whether or not if this is even an uncommon thing. I didn’t find anything similar when I did a search here, but perhaps I didn’t use clear enough terms?
Anyone else with a similar story?

I have hit balls in two different games at Oracle Park in SF (on 22) where one time it looked to go on forever foul in McCovey Cove only to have the right fielder catch the ball in the water beyond the bricks. I hit another one in the water fair through the right field bricks and got a triple with Brandon Crawford before the fielder ran it down (on top of the water) and threw the ball in. Never know what can happen in a video game.

Oh WOW! Hahaha! That’s incredible right there…and my experience pales in comparison to BOTH of those stories! That’s so funny…your feller in Right pulled one right out of sunday school class with his impression of Jesus walking across the Sea of Galilee! Not even Jesus robbed a clear homer though! Haha great story man, thanks for sharing it

Could very well be. Sometimes I don’t understand how that really works because I’ve always been hardwired ever since The Show has been online. That goes back to somewhere between 2010-2012 I think. I remember when The Show online was free.

It’s probably not your fault, this game is built on P2P connection. Could’ve easily been the other person playing on WiFi in his basement feeding of the modem upstairs

This happened to me at Fenway while playing CPU.... Foul ball went waaaay into the 3B side bleachers but somehow rode the safety netting in to Devers' glove for an out

You can post the video to twitter (from your PS) and post the link to it here.

Man, I would love to watch that. I’ve has a couple weird things happen but never to this extreme. That’s a video that would go viral.

I just rewatched it and I believe that’s precisely what occurred in my case also! I forgot they installed safety netting to protect against fouls. Mine was at Citi Field and was hit by Larry Walker well foul into the stands along the LF line. Before anyone thinks it, I will acknowledge that yes, y’all remember correctly that he’s a lefty….what can I say, I have rather poor swing timing lol! Anyways I didn’t notice this before, but as the ball descends towards the height of the fans, there is a very distinct and pronounced radius in its transition from vertical to the horizontal as it makes its turn…just like if it rolled down a net and into the glove of the LF and immediately you can see the “outs” indicator go from showing one out over to showing two! Who knew the nets were in play!? Hahaha!
