My ‘23 Strategy (Not Important enough to click on - long rant)
-
I’ve been an early pre-order dude since ‘19 and hit the market early release flipping thousand of gold equipment cards for a month while making enough bank to last me the entire game cycle.
I tell myself I don’t care about collecting every card but once the game cycle starts I have OCD about collecting every single card as soon as I can for the Nostalgia high (I’m 41). Not only that, but the last 2 years I’ve developed OCD about paralleling 5 what I think the GOD SQUAD cards will be (P5 within the top 100), the Mickeys, the Trouts. I’m working on my 30+ P5 right now. And guess what, I suck online so I haven’t played ranked since 2019. For me I just do some batting practice at Coors field for 4 hours a day, streaming something in the background. Super low stress but boring. I got Josh Donaldson without doing any moments or the showdown to give an example of how much time I play. Lol
In ‘23 I’m going to start a new strategy because I feel ‘23 will just be another copy and paste with a few little add ons. Once they go all New Gen it might get better. I’m going to jump into ‘22 rank soon and play 1 game a night so that I can finally enjoy my P5s until get the new game.
I won’t get ‘23 when it comes out. I’m going to wait until the very last Monthly awards. After that, the Finest program is next. I’ll play the last BR and Ranked seasons and do all the events from Oct on to get those late 1 million cards.
In the end I think I will be satisfied with my team and save 1000+ hours on something more constructive haha.
I hated the fact that I P5 a few players twice. There should only be one 99 of each player.

I mean, you can do that, and if that what makes it fun for you go for it, however the most time of the year I enjoy is early game, where any pull could be an upgrade, where I'm grinding away at the LS collection, where content releases mean I could get excited about a 95 OVR Ketel Marte headliner etc.

The hole in your strategery: the previous Feature program rewards are going to be more expensive than their relative worth. (Assuming no other changes)

I had a strategy this year.
Not gonna chase. So played w my fav guys early.
Now I am yearning for Mantle.
Not gonna happen.
Too many missing. So B Renyolds it is.

I started playing 22 at the end of august and I was able to get every single collection card in the game before the forever program. You are going to want to play ranked, events, BR etc. you can get experience much quicker, I don’t think I completed a single moment in the extreme program either I got JD by just grinding out games.

My strategy is if the game/hitting engine doesn’t get a complete overhaul I won’t be playing at all. YMMV

I stopped playing 22 like a few weeks ago. I check back sometimes to see if there is new conquest or showdown.
Last year mlb 21 i played until 22 came out. And previous years same thing going all the way back to 17.
I sort of never liked this game this year. I liked the gameplay but I never liked how DD was setup from day 1.
I always like to complete all the moments but for this forever event, I have no desire to even play one moment.
I'll def get 23 especially since it'll be on gamepass but i'm pretty much done with 22 which is a surprise to me.
