I've played this game a lot over the last two years, and I've never really had anyone steal home on me or try to. So tonight I play a game, and this guy keeps stealing 3rd and home with 99 runners/stealers by taking a huge lead-off. If I throw to the base he's on, the animations are so ridiculously slow that the infielders take beyond forever to throw the ball to the base he's stealing to.

The ONLY thing I can think to do is to hit the L1 button and step off the mound, but even then, if a runner's on third, you can't see what he's doing on the screen. It's ridiculous.

So if you A) do what a normal pitcher would do, i.e. try to pick-off the runner on the base he's on, the stupid infielders cannot get rid of the ball fast enough to throw to the base they're going to. And if you B) step off the rubber and run at the runner (i.e., another thing a real-life pitcher would do), you can't see where the runner is.

What strategy do others employ to stop this stupid exploitation of a flaw in the gameplay. Because that's what it is. I was honestly so thunderstruck by the move, having never seen it before, that I wasn't sure what buttons to hit. I wanted to just throw home, but I was still in the pitching screen animation.

And it really p'd me off because I lost the game to this stupid play even though I vastly outhit and outpitched the other player.

Maybe have to throw a pitchout, then just have to tag runner out at home

What view are you using? I'm pretty sure the only base you can't see when pitching is second unless you use one of the views from the catcher.

There isn't a window in the bottom corner of the screen showing the runner on base?

One of the Strike Zone views. What hitting view do you use? If you use one of the ones, Strike Zone, that makes it look like youre the catcher; that's what they are probably using.

I step off or throw pitch off the plate , run him back and maybe feign a throw..a throw and he wil score due to the poor animation.

Thanks. I tried that view when pitching and didn't like it. So if there is a speedster on 2nd, I'll throw there once in a while or listen to the announcer say something about the lead off of the guy on 2nd.

I think, after you select the pitch, if you hd L2 or R2, they'll show a view of the runner.

Do you know that if you're on second and you want to steal third; don't take an extra step until after the pitcher stares at you. If you take the extra step prior to that you're almost guaranteed to be picked off.

Never knew that and I am sure there are several others I don't know.

Do you know that if you're on second and you want to steal third; don't take an extra step until after the pitcher stares at you. If you take the extra step prior to that you're almost guaranteed to be picked off.

I did not know that. And I have the hardest time stealing against the CPU. Online I have a better chance. Last night I had a few chances to try L2 with a runner on second and forgot!!
