F'n Showdown

Beat every boss up to Johnson. Tie the game with 11 outs to go. 11! 7 of my 9 hitters are left handed. 3 or 4 straight home to first double plays. After every time the game walks my next hitter to load the bases and brings the infield it. Taking the bat out of half of my best hitters in the process.
I had 83 speed on every base twice and lost 25-25. Johnson was in yellow but his confidence recovered so quickly after strikeouts to keep my PCI small. One play I bunted and it was clearly going past Johnson to score the 26th run, but he somehow got to it, spun around and threw home for a strike and then to first for a double play. On my last swing of the game I felt like I was on the ball and my guy didn't even touch it.
Johnson was wild, but it seemed like he got stronger as I performed better. I feel sick to my stomach as I had two or three last out hits to get to him to begin with. People are going to say get good, but that game should have been over multipole times based on balls in play and yet here I am. How in the hell did I need win that game even by accident?
-
This is why I won't touch it.
The hitting engine or lack there of this year is going to play a factor in this, so I don't need the aggravation. -

The hitting engine or lack there of this year is going to play a factor in this, so I don't need the aggravation. The problem is that Showdown is basically just 8 consecutive moments. Fail one and you have to start all over. I wish the Halsey and Chapman moments were the first two requiring a run each challenge and then the back end of the challenges were Greinke, Leiter, Mussina, Ryan and Johnson.
What really jumped out to me was how bad the results on balls in play were after Johnson had depleted a lot of his stamina/confidence. I kind of don't even want to try it again. Just takes too long to get to the moment itself even if you are successful.
-
I will not even attempt it either. Waste of time and I don't need the frustration of Showdown.
-
I gave it a couple tries but it’s freakin hard man….mind you getting to Randy at the minimum is an hour plus….I’d really love to rip with Kerry and Chapman but it’s just not worth the time

Extreme is supposed to be difficult. Adjust your expectations.
-
Conquest Extreme was easy. But I know better than to bother with showdown or moments.

I don't think it's expectations as much as it's time, at least for me. I'm terrible at showdowns anyway and I just don't have the time (or enough alcohol) to grind all the way to the end boss just to lose and want to throw stuff. I've just resigned myself to the fact that anything tied to showdowns I'm just not getting the reward. But more power to those that can, I tip my hat to you good people.
-
I'm not proud how I beat the showdown but got lucky with Al Kaline being in my draft after chapman and then down by 10 I managed to score 5 runs just from walks and HBPs. I think Kaline was the only player I got a hit with

Lmao crying about extreme now

That’s a tough break that has become all too common in this game and will become crystal clear in this extreme program for those that had any previous doubt. A challenge is fine with most of us but most players lack the skill to overcome the odds of a stacked deck, myself included.

The thing I have noticed most from Extreme is that swings are still WAY WAY WAYYYYY too important.
The 3 HR mission is laughable. If I could use only Bryce Harper I could do it 70% of the time. I started with a homerun something like 15/20 times from him but Ruth, Ortiz, Brett, and crew could hardly get there own. I think it was 6/6 or 6/7 Harper hit for me at the start. Eventually i smartened up and put Glitchy HRD Seager in my lineup and finished it pretty easy after that.
You’re correct though, good players can overcome the nonsense, not everybody swings nearly perfect so when they DO…they SHOULD get rewarded point black.

I got Chapman today and haven’t touched Showdown. Just do enough Moments to get Kerry Wood and then do Conquest Extreme. It’s easy (got the 5 strongholds on only 3 Turns so 5 is easy) and by the time you’re done you’ll have Wood to P4 which then gets you Chapman.

No one is expecting it to be easy. The problem is the rubbish hitting engine!!! I got to Chapman and absolutely squared up with 4 of the 7 outs. 1 was a foul ball, I don't know how, 2 were robber at the fence (of course!) and one was a freaking pop up to the catcher!!! Not early, not super under the ball, the game just decided why not, let's give the catcher a go.
I have finished all other parts of the Extreme Program but Showdown, and now I will not be able to get Donaldson as there is no way in hell I am going to waste hours away from my wife and kids so the game can randomly decide when I fail!
I have always defended this game but this is the by far the worst Show I have played in terms of gameplay! It's basically a card collecting game!
-
I actually failed against Grienkie a couple times and Helsley once, before I finally decided to start taking pitches.
Got Randy up to around 150 pitches, think I had more walks than hits. Did get a little worried though, was 25-25, 7 outs, bases loaded, and hit a liner to 3rd and he caught it and dove back to 3rd to double off my runner. Thought I was gonna get Show'd, but I stayed patient and worked another walk and eventually hit a single with 2 outs left
-
'Get Show'd'
Lolz. That's the slogan for next year. You got Show'd. '23 skidoo'ed even -

I beat that moment with homers from Harper and Seager, then Jram got HBP and Pete Alonso hit my third homer. I agree, sweet swings help a lot.

The fact pitchers can throw over 150 pitches and not lose any velocity while still dotting the zone is absurd. It would be nice if fatigue was properly programmed instead of confidence being overpowered. When a pitcher gets tired they should lose velocity, movement, and become more prone to hanging pitches. In this game if they have confidence they can throw unlimited pitches and still dot you up with 100 mph sinkers with insane movement at pitch number 200.
