It's a very good card and one I would like to use for a certain price but certainly not a million stubs card. What makes me excited upon seeing this card is thinking about what his Retro Finest will be like.
Every time a great, sometimes just good, player gets a card that is not likely his top card, many on hear assume that the better card will be a retro Finest. I’m not knocking on the fact that you said it, I do the same thing. They are such great cards. Obviously, not everyone can get one, but people are justifiably happy about Pedro’s card and it’s not a Finest. Anyway, I want Griffey’s retro Finest. At least the Mays is a decent card. Like you said, not a million stubs decent.
I'm just basing it off the stream. They said specifically that Retro Finest cards would be the best card for Legends. Doesn't mean EVERY legend will get one but my guess is Mays gets one.
They just like to go crazy with the new card series of the year. In 19 it was nothing but signatures. 20 was a pretty good split with Awards and Prime added. Last year was mostly milestones, especially for pitchers. Tbh the only 99s that aren't RF cards I'm fully confident DONT get a retro finest are Randy, Clemente, Frank, and Ryan

I honestly was not knocking you. I only picked yours because I see you on the board. I agree that players like Mays, Mantle, and Griffey - given that they are three big names that had the same thing happen - deserve a retro Finest. My bad if it came off like I was calling you out or something.

No worries, just didn't want it to seem like I pulled the Retro Finest thing out of my [censored]. Like @the_dragon1912 said too, they always go crazy with new card series. They released a crazy number of no hitter cards last year

Dragon it seems like every year you have a crystal ball and can see these cards before they ever get released. With that said (and it’s a compliment btw) do you think in order to get the RF of Griffey, Mantle and Mays you will need to have their lesser card? It almost seems that way. I’m not a great player by any means but I’m not bad either and I think I’m good enough to evaluate the recent Griffey and Mantle cards and so far I’m really disappointed. I hope there will part 2 for these cards and we do get some way to get their better cards, without having to win WS or BR

Yes, you are absolutely right about that.

They haven't done anything like that since 17 so I would think not. Since Griffey is a free program and not purchasable you might need him but Mantle and Mays absolutely not

Mantle was free in a sense by Grinding but I think you are 100% right about Mays

On the bright side Cole Hamels isn’t that bad. He has pretty much the perfect pitch mix. I wish the sinker had a bit more break but he could be solid.

2 other people think otherwise
I played you recently in an event game. Thought the name was familiar.
But as I predicted this morning, this will not be his last 99. Expect a fully juiced Retro Finest later in year. This is “Mays Light”
Two 99s of the same player?
Yeah. They made it pretty clear on the last stream that would be the case this year
But what attributes do they increase/decrease to make a 99 OVR Retro Finest, as an example, better than this 99?
I assumed Overalls were calculated by adding all 17 hitting attribute together and then dividing by the number of attributes (17); but for Mays that came out to an 88.But that could also mean that the Ovr of a card and it's attributes are just numbers that SDS makes up. But I don't think that's the case.
If they increased his Contact and Power on both sides to 125; wouldn't they have to decrease something else on the new card to make it a 99? Because if they didn't; then this current version isn't a true 99.

Showzone has a True overall calculator. For example Griffey's true overall is a 98.something and Brett is 107.something. And attributes aren't averaged out, different positions weigh fielding differently and Contact vs. R is weighted heavier than anything else. Putting anything with triple digits on the card would just look awkward. 99s greatly differ sometimes
