Not in my opinion. I’d take 21s gameplay over any of them. 17 had horrible fielding animations, oppo taco nukes while getting jammed on the hands, “be late, be great”, baserunning cheese was obsurd, no OOP penalties so anyone could play gold glove defense at 1B.

I’ll counter argue this. While 17 did have glaring issues it never outweighed the positives of the basics of hitting and pitching. 21 was great for its pitching…. And that was really it. If hitting was buffed a bit it would’ve been decent. Baserunning wasnt great on top of fielding too. And there’s still no penalties to some positions in 22 as well. You can actually play some players of out position and they’d still be great at it even when OOP. I was a great player in 21, but I know it really wasn’t great especially with no pci homeruns being a major focal point.

problem with this game is that it took all the horrible things from the past several and added them into one game....forced hangers, poor fielding animations and urgency, wet noodle bats, way off PCI HRs, pulling low and outside off speed 450, fouls constantly, Texas leaguers and seeing eye singles galore, more check swings, perfect perfect fly balls to the warning track with 100-125 power etc etc
