Why are so many fielding opportunities such a waste of time in rtts. I stopped playing
outfield due to all the no doubt home runs the game decided was a fielding opportunity. I also stopped playing 3rd base as most opportunities involve the batter bunting even if it's Vladimir Guerrero Jr who would never bunt in real life with 1 out and a runner on 1st and 2nd. The ai logic is terrible in rtts when you play 3rd.

You cam go into Mode specific settings & adjust fielding to either All, Some or None. Can also do the same with Base Running to All, Lead Runner or None. If yo set both of those to None, then you will ONLY Have At-Bats in every RTTS game as a positioned player.

The complaint is legit: I want to see some fielding opportunities, but the game puts me in to watch HRs.
What you're saying is that setting the game to "no opportunities" is a workaround, but it's not. Putouts, assists, stolen bases: if you don't do them yourself, they don't count for archetype progress. So, setting the opportunities to None means slower archetype progress. Not to mention less aspects of the game to enjoy.

@Leepugsley666777_PSN The best opportunities I've had so far have been at 2B. Lots of groundballs, DP opportunities, and the occasional popped balls.

However the Program Path XP for PA's, H's & XBH's is repeatable. You can easily get to the end just on those alone. You really dont need to repeat the PO's, A's & SB's to finish it. Aswell those situations to get those are less coming within RTTS. Even with SB's if you always mostly hitting HR's & Doubles or there is a runner already occupying the base ahead of you.

The OP from what I understood was complaining that doing any fielding situations is a waste of time because they are too repetitive & more then half the time will merit no Path XP or Attribute gain. That is why I suggested to have it set to "None" with both fielding & running opportunities. Focus ONLY on hitting & max out the Program Path with just ONLY hitting. The PC will sim all your fielding & base running. Therefore your all your fielding attributes ( Rea, Arm, Acc, Fld, Blk ) will go up & as well your running attributes ( Spd, Stl, Agg )

I find 1st base the easiest way to grind for archetype progress using "all" fielding situations in the RTTS menu. A lot of putouts from grounders to P, 2nd, 3rd, and SS. These putouts plus the occasional unassisted DP or 3-4-3 DP gives opportunities for 6-12 putouts and assists per game. There are still the useless hits to outfield, but there seems to be fewer than OF HRs. After I have all my diamond archetypes fully upgraded I'll start doing the ones I really want to do. So far I have most of the equipment I want and a good chunk of the equipment and perk collections done without needing to sell player cards. It also breaks up just hitting, which can get really boring before you even get to AAA.

My biggest issue is with stealing. A 99 speed should not get caught half the time. Between that and "lead runner" making me wait so long on third for the next three batters to strike out.

I usually play as a shortstop but this year in the new game, I decided to play right field because I've never done it before. I don't mind standing out there catching fly balls. Imagine doing for real when it's 98°.

I play every game, and watch every pitch, for every at bat, when I'm on, because I love stealing. I was swiping bags with 77 speed, and now with 102 it's a foregone conclusion that I don't get caught. My guy is up for Rookie of the Year, playing for the Rangers. They were in last place when I was playing in triple A, then their right fielder got hurt late in the season, and I got called up early. This season we're in first place, 38 games over 500. I've been in a back and forth race with Corey Seager for top batting average on the team. It seems to change everyday, but I've been slumping lately.

I had my runner up to 115? at one point and didn't have problems stealing. 99 was completely different. I don't know how you did it with 77. Maybe they fixed it since the last time I tried. You're probably better than me at it. I go at first movement and have never had any problems before. I hate having my contact or power so low so I can steal with 115 speed. I'm playing first base until I get my diamond archetypes done. Maybe I'll try speed instead of contact until I have my power archetype done...

As far as Your Rangers winning...PPPPPLLLLBBBBBBHHHHHHHTTTT...As an Angels fan, I wish you second place. At least you're not an Astros fan.

I doubt I'm any better than you. But I'm also a bass player so I'm used to moving my fingers quickly for hours at a time. Might give me a slight edge on reaction time.

Awe man, my father in law played bass. He was a good man. Now I think very highly of you. I played trumpet, so all I'm good at tapping with thee fingers and my thumb doesn't move...

I play second and the amount of strange bunt plays I see that always go to first base is staggering.

I've seen this happen a lot for guys who were playing second base in YouTube playthroughs. Maybe you would see a lot of bunts if you play first. But like you, I don't understand that strategy from the AI.

I don’t play 3rd base for the same reason. I rather enjoy the outfield, however. I have opportunities set to all and actually get to play more than routine fly balls or watch homers fly over the wall.
