RTTS Baserunning

I am playing RTTS. For some reason no matter what options I choose I cannot get the bumper keys to advance the runner. This is also the same for player lock. I have tried both settings. Am I missing something?

Bumpers are only for leading off.

I believe it’s up and down on R3. I just turn off base running because I never could get a feel for it.

In RTTS since you only control your runner the bumper keys don't work. Push the right stick forward to advance or pull it back to retreat. It is all handled with the right stick.
