Account Linking Question for 22
-
I primarily played 21 on PS5, but I also have a Series S with Game Pass. I eventually linked the two accounts without issue and was able to swap back and forth seamlessly. I only got to play a little of the tech test, but I believe the accounts were still linked which leads me to believe we will not need to relink for 22, and that it's a one time deal. That of course could prove to be wrong in a few weeks.
My question is how Switch will eventually fit into all of this. When I first linked I had to set the Playstation as my primary so that I would not lose all of my stubs and progress. If I were to hypothetically buy the Switch version this year to go along with the Game Pass version, I assume I would have to make Switch the primary so I don't lose out on any pre-order bonuses over the base version on Game Pass. Would that have an impact on my team on 21, erasing the primary Playstation roster I put together? Or will the new linking only have an impact on 22?
Did anyone from SDS talk about this process yet? I assume not, but I haven't been following super closely. If not, I hope they do at some point before launch.

Switch account linking is coming soon. Stay tuned.
First thing to clarify. Nothing is deleted! I'll say it again. Nothing is deleted.
Given the scenario, yes, you should make the Switch your primary platform because you likely will have inventory items that won't be available on any other platforms you play on.
So your steps would be:
- Create MLB The Show Account
- Link Nintendo Switch to MLB The Show Account
- Launch and open Pre-Order Rewards
- Link Xbox Account
- Link PlayStation Account
This will make it so that the rewards are available across all linked platforms.
As for previous '21 data, we will get a clear answer on that.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I'll keep a look out for more info.
Based on your order of operations, the Switch account needs to be linked first, which makes sense based on the way it worked last year. Since I already have an MLB The Show account that I am using for 21, does that mean I should unlink the Playstation and Xbox first, then link the Switch (when that becomes available) to change the order? Or should I create a new MLB The Show account to link to Switch, and then change the Xbox over to that one while leaving the Playstation linked to the original MLB The Show account? I would assume that method would be the least likely to cause issues since all of my 21 info would still be available on PS5 through the old account, and then 22 could be shared between Switch and Series S on the new one.
If you can't answer yet I understand, and I will just wait for further clarification before monkeying around with the accounts.

Hey Collin. I read through the FAQ, but I'm still a little confused. Since I already have an MLB The Show account, and you said the Switch should be linked first, does that mean I need to unlink the Playstation and Xbox first, and then relink in the order you mentioned here? Will that have any impact on 21, because my Playstation should be the primary for that game. Thanks.

I think as long as they’re all linked to your main Show account, you should be fine. Then just stay logged into your primary console account. I think the problem last year was that the cross platform linking didn’t come until after early access. So when people did it and didn’t log back into their initial console used to start the game, they thought they lost their progress.
