New showdown

No way should it be on veteran you start off against Fernando Valenzuela unhittable pitcher and it’s January and the program is 1.5 million xp why can’t they just make this game fun in the last couple months or the game at least.
And why have we not gotten Kirby Puckett and others yet
-
Where is Fernando in the showdown? That’s why I only beat the RIB showdown a couple of times. He’s hard to hit.

First pitcher.
My issue with this showdown is you need to beat each boss or you restart and there's like 8 or 9 of them I believe.
Gonna be a hard pass for me I think and it is what got me (short lived) back to the game lol

It's actually not too bad. Almost all missions start with runners in scoring position. You only ever need to get 1 batter around to score each time, as long as you don't run yourself into any double plays.
-
Thought it was going to difficult, but wasn't bad at all. I felt it actually gets easier the further along you go, as your lineup becomes a god squad and get good perks. Have speedsters on the bench ready to sub in and steal when the opportunity presents itself and you end up needing just 1-2 hits per boss
-
I had a bit of trouble with Sale, but definitely not enough to lose. Rest were easy to very easy.
-
I don't think I made it to my 7th batter until Nolan. Then again against Gagne...it's a cake walk. Kenny Lofton and bunt cheese perk.
-
Does anyone know where I can find a guide for the showdown? Difficulty levels, missions, etc.

Sale's release point always throws me off the first few batters.

Just dive in. Don't over complicate it. Focus on the little white thing and then try and mash it as hard as you can.
It took me a while to get used to Showdowns because I wanted to hit every pitch. Patience is your best friend or your worst enemy.
Best advice that I can give you: The faster you try and rush through it, the longer it'll take you.

I’ll probably give it a shot tonight. I was just curious on the requirements for each boss and general tips in terms of lineups and perks that would be beneficial.

For those of you who have completed the 11th inning showdown, can you rate the pitchers on their difficulty from 1 (being the most challenging) to 8 (being the easiest)??? Thanks.
F.Valenzuela / L.Smith / D.Eckersley / C.Mathewson / N.Ryan / P.Martinez / C.Sale / E.Gagne

Id really like some help improving my hitting. I hear guys on here saying what a cake walk this showdown is. I tried it 3 times. Twice I couldn't move past Valenzuela and once I couldn't get past Lee.
I'm housesitting and the TV here is insanely large. I thought that would make it easier but I'm having trouble big time offensively and hoping it's getting use to the TV and not that I suck. This is my first year playing the Show but I've been playing since May and have completed all offline content and collected every player card not named Alomar (throws things all over the room, knowing this is not a real world problem) so while I'm somewhat new, I feel like I should have advanced past this rookie ability.
What is a good way to work on my hitting without wanting to put my head through this gratuitously obese television?

Exactly why i keep just playing games and knocking out the offline missions and still haven’t tried showdown

95% of the time a boss will do 1 of 2 things for each plate attempt.
- Will get to 3-0 before throwing strikes.
- will throw 1 strike for the first pitch and then proceed throwing balls until he's cornered.
Focus on their patterns as much as the pitches and your 80% there. I just threw my Showdown training wheels away pretty recently and that's my approach.

Thanks....I'm reaching new levels of awful. I got 1 single off Fernando then got doubled off. 1 single in 12 ABs

Ok, for your amusement. I shall update you on my progress. 5th try and with 4 out left and having the winning run thrown out on bad base running twice, Jean Segura hits a sac fly and I have passed Fernando. 1 down, 7 to go.
Update: subbed in Terrance Gore for my runner at 2B, stole 3B and bunted him in with Kenny Lofton. This is the first time I've defeated Lee Smith. Please feel free to bust out the because failure surely lurks in the shadows which will undoubtedly cause me to start drinking and cussing. These are true first world problems. Why showdown....why?
Update number 2: The real challenge of showdown when you are a poor hitter and emotional train wreck is the further you go, the more devastating the fall.
Eckersley went down the easiest. I subbed in Gore for my 1B runner, stole 2B and then Lofton sliced a single to left. I tied the game and got greedy sending Gore despite the fact that he was just rounding 3rd when their LF retrieved a shallow single. Gore was gunned at home and I startled my with loud obscenities.
Luckily, Pujols hit a fly ball to right and Kenny Lofton scored on another Sac Fly. Bring on Matthewson.Beers consumed: 1 tall boy and halfway through a second.
Update #3: Albert Pujols walked on 4 pitches and then speed demon that he is, made it to 2B on a wild pitch. I struck out miserably with Troy Glaus but Jason Bay was able to bunt him over to 3B. Albert is essentially Ricky Henderson on the bases here.
I had forgotten to adjust my batting order so Wander, 1 of my top 5 bosses was hitting down in the 6 hole. I was actually patient (Alert the media) and hit a single over the SS which scored Pujols and inflated my dreams a little more.
NOTE: I know some of you have completed this a handful of times already. Please feel free to judge me harshly but I stopped playing showdown (other than the really short ones for RIB, Scherzer etc) after the 2nd inning. I also suck.
I'm afraid this may be a house of cards. Here comes Nolan. It might be time for another cold one. If I don't make it out of this boss, tell my story.

Final update: Nolan struck me out 10 times. Yep. 10 friggin times. I'm in over my head. I closed my eyes and knocked 1 run in with Vlad and had the winning run on 2nd with 8 outs to go. And didn't touch the ball again. No clue how you all hit that ever.
Hope you've enjoyed.

Lol. If it brings a little comfort, I'm just waking up and reading this and was kind of like looking at the cartoons in the Sunday paper when I was a child.
If you were only on one and a half by Eckersly, that is a problem. Slam one tall boy before each showdown and Nolan is a breeze.
I feel your pain though. I got lucky with Nolan the first time. Is he mentally beating you that's adding to the strikeouts? If so, that is the last 3 or 4 RS games I played.
Terrance Gore is a life saving pinch runner. He'll be a valuable asset in 22 early on! I was already a pretty big fan of him after he made hundreds of thousands on the market.

@Ericulous1_PSN When I get really frustrated like what you were going through my 80lb pit bull picks up on it and tries to help make me feel better. She gets in my face, paws at my arm to pet her and will not give up. It magnifies my frustration by 100.
Don't get me wrong, it's a loving gesture BUT think about your Nolan experience and throw THAT into the mix. It's a personal hell at times.
