Pitching this year is just plain bad.

I know I’m beating a dead horse here but I really hope SDS removes the terrible RNG outcomes to pitching for next years game.

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve hit my marks on the meter (analog) going down and up, only to have the pitch end up in a totally different location.

It’s impossible to throw a low change up or curveball below the zone. It either goes in the dirt or is hung in the lower third.

Had times where I get “early” on the meter and the pitch goes lower and vice versa. It’s a joke how much they took the control out of our hands for pitching this year.

Please SDS, take a hard look at pitching and make it better in 20

Ratings and confidence come into play, sir.

Considering this happens with 99 ovr pitchers from the beginning of the games your argument is invalid

I strictly play DD RS, and can say that analog pitching for online gameplay is straight garbage.

This is indisputable not because I say so, but because anybody who has played online has experienced it themselves.. Pitch control is horrendous regardless of the pitcher's control attributes.

I think we can all agree that if we aim to hit the outside corner of the plate for a strike, that's where it should go, and not outside the zone for a ball, or right down the middle of the plate, or even worse, hit the batter. If you think we shouldn't be able to hit the spot we aim for every time, fine, I'm ok with that. But missing it more times than not is frustrating and nonsense which is how it currently plays. Like I said, straight garbage.

I think pitching vs humans is easier. The humans I've played are not patient at all. I can throw the worst pitches off the plate, and they swing. The cpu forces me to throw strikes

That's because you're playing against scrubs which is expected when you're online rating is only 309.

Hitting was too OP at the end of the year, I’ve stopped playing until ‘20 is almost released, it’s good to take a break, but I also hope they address this issue as it’s pretty major for me. I don’t want to see all these 6+ ERA in next years RS, it’s stupid. At this point the game isn’t about being good at baseball, using legitimate strategies and pitching well to beat your opponent, it’s merely a test of your ability to outslug your opponent. It’s a hitting simulator with very little focus on the nuances of baseball. It doesn’t matter where you pitch, how you set up your defense, which defensive substitutions you make in the later stages etc if the game is going to force you to make a scripted error followed by a meatball on good input that sails out for a home run. As I said, it’s a big problem to me personally.

I actually love the pure analog pitching. It’s one of the best features in any sports game out there. If anybody out there is playing this game and isn’t using pure analog pitching, Phewf!! You must at least give it a fair chance to win you over. No location is off limits with any pitch, some spots can be super hard to time making them not worth the risk of even trying it. Pure analog pitching gives the user 100% control of their result. Executing is the other step. To make sure you don’t hang a curveball, or something off speed below the zone, be certain that if you make absolute certain that your Pitching Line gets passed your bar to make sure the ball misses below the zone if it misses... rather than trying to be perfect with every pitch and missing the wrong pitches in the wrong spots. You control your misses. If you release before the bar then your pitch is going to be high, below the bar and it will be low. This is assuming that on your follow through you don’t do something bananas. Same goes with the red circle. If you miss left of it your pitch will miss left, and vise-versa. Missing both targets can lead to some lesser than ideal results... but that should be expected by anyone breathing.

This is not true. It used to be true in MLB 15 and 16 and I wish it was still the case, but it is simply not.

Perfect good/good input can easily (and frequently does) end up in an entirely different location than intended by the user, pitches released too late end up higher up in the zone than intended (which should be physically impossible) and pitches released too early end up lower in the zone than intended (equally impossible). Some pitches have a tendency to gravitate to the middle of the zone seemingly without any explanation.

The game tries too hard to even out the playing field in online play. However, that is what the different ratings for season play is for. Pitching should not be punishable attribute to help an opponent stay in the game like it is this year. For example, I would say I am in the upper tier of pitching. I find myself to be very good at it but I am a horrible hitter. I will never make the WS and that is ok. That is where the playing field should even itself out...in the match rankings.

You are completely wrong about you controlling your misses. Instead of playing the CPU, play DD RS, and you'll begin experiencing this immediately.
