Griffey Collections & Way too expensive players
-
As someone who started playing the game in August, so quite late, I am only 4 vouchers away from getting the Griffey card. But it's to the point where every card I need is 270k+ because it's from early on in the game. This essentially makes it impossible for me to get the Griffey card without spending money on stubs. But that's all they really want anyway, so it's no surprise they wouldn't make a fan-favorite player at least somewhat easy to acquire.
-
Step 1: Buy a topps now card for 20,000 stubs. Step 2: sell it back for 40,000. You gust made 16,000 profit. Do that 17 times and you get enough profit to get said card

Put in the time like the rest of us, and you'll have him too. Frankly, I think it should have been a higher collect percentage for the big collection reward (Griffey).
I've obviously put in the time if I'm 4 vouchers and like 15 cards away. I don't play online anymore because I just get matched against people who don't miss when they swing and this is my first year on the game. It's all tryhards now because its become Pay to play.

I guarantee at least 90% of the guys you face online this time of year haven't spent one cent in stubs this whole year. This isn’t madden or 2k man all the cards can be or at least could have been at some point easily earned by playing. Some of us even had to spend more than 30k on live series Trout if you can imagine that.

SDS rewarding long-term players with an easier path to completing collections?
OUTRAGEOUS!!!
… OR you could just wait 25 days for the 11th inning.

I started playing in Sept/Oct. I am three vouchers away from Griffey Jr. Topps Now, MAs, and either 2nd Half Heroes or Awards.
TN and MA are free just for playing. Two of the 2nd Half Heroes I can get in the BR Program. (Not a great hitter and I've hit the 100pts the last three programs).
I also have 2.5M in stubs and I haven't spent a dime; other than what I paid for the game.
It's possible.
Plus most of what you probably need are past inning bosses. They'll probably be in the next Inning Program in Rewind Packs.
You'll be able to select at least one and can buy the others (if needed) once they drop DRASTICALLY in price.
Heck, before this last inning AS Joc Pederson was over 100K and now you can get him for 6K.

It’s the ultimate collection for this year. It shouldn’t be easy to get especially since you just started playing in August. Some of us have been playing since the release in April. It’s easier now more than ever to get cards needed for collections. When I got LS Trout, he was going for over 300,000. Hrs what, 30,000 at buy now. That’s one Run It Back conquest map or four games.

okay, but what I'm saying is there is no reason for an 85 rated John Smoltz should be 250k when he also has higher-rated cards. It would be nice if they would do something about the ridiculous inflation. Don't feel like that's a ridiculous ask.

Lol, yeah. I bought Trout for 330k a month in, then pulled him a few weeks later and sold for 550k. This time a year, prices are super low.

That's because Smoltz was a BR/Event or Ranked Seasons reward
Those always go up in price because you can't find them anymore. Smoltz was a events reward for the first event of the year, so if they do a rewind pack in the next events run you will see those prices go down.
It's not about the rating of the card it's how many cards are in circulation at the moment.

This is exactly the problem, I've still put in a [censored] ton of work to get this far, and now I'm just screwed because prices are through the roof. Doesn't make me want to buy next years game or even continuing playing this year.

Ok, by that same principle SDS owes me stub refunds because I bought cards that were a lot more expensive that are dirt cheap now.

There are also things called price floors and ceilings and if they had actually implemented reasonable ones this problem wouldn't be occurring.

And all I'm saying is if your patient enough those prices should come down. That or as others have said buy the game at the beginning of the season not December when the game has only at most 3 months left.

Yeah those floor and ceilings are decided by consumers, not the business. If a business wants to sell a plastic cup for $900, but no one buys, it's obvious the consumers have set a ceiling much lower then that
