There is a problem with stealing in this game

I don’t know what the solution is, but if a player wants to try and cheese a run with Lou Brock in a tight game, there is nothing you can do to prevent it.
Bunt defense and 2B in? He’ll drop one two feet in front of the plate and Salvy still won’t be able to throw him out.
Step off or throw over to prevent the extra step? You’ll never catch him. Anticipate a steal and pitch out once he stops taking the extra step? He’ll stop halfway to second and make it back no problem.
Anticipate a steal of third and beat him there with the throw? Kyle Seager diamond D will not be able to put the tag on him.
I’m ok to take my one run loss and move on, but these tactics make games take way too long and ruin the fun. There is no counter that is an actual baseball thing. Maybe you could try throwing behind him on a pitch out but that is bush league and would never happen really.
Yet another year for this problem.

Don't forget that each time you throw over, it depleats some of your energy.
As for the running back to the previous base: they need to implement something that if the batter is already at least half way to the base they're trying to steal; you can't run back.
Very rarely do you see someone, in an actual real game, getting a large jump in a pitch, trying to steal, and instead of trying to take the bag they stop and run back to the previous base.

Yeah, they added that little stumble animation last year which was supposed to take care of it, but it doesn’t make a difference now.

The other thing is stealing is a vastly smaller part of the mlb game nowadays. I guess this is just another way the show does not emulate the big leagues.

I play a lot of offline conquest and I've recently been picked off 3 times at first base with good speed/stealing attributes. My guy just stands there and gets thrown out. In the first 5 months of this game, never had that happened even once. Within a week, 3 times? They have done something to stealing. I usually don't even steal versus the CPU. Just, very lame.

Yeah, I do as well. In this case, my opponent finally did not take an extra step, which is where I pitched out, as he was going on the pitch. Unfortunately, twice, he was able to stop halfway and return safely. Maybe if Salvy had the pop time quirk, I could have caught him but...
