How long did it take you to improve in the game?
-
So for me its taking a little bit of time right now but since I use my TV and not a monitor (not yet anyways) I feel like I've started getting better each time I take a break for a while for some reason.
I feel like my hitting is improving each game and noticed that my placement for the PCI is really decent now compared to what it was before. This is my first year playing the game although my pitching really needs work.
I wanna learn to hit and pitch on high difficulties but I need to practice more often.
Sure my hitting is great on rookie and veteran but that's nothing compared to hitting on legend imo.
I can do it okay but not all that great yet.
What are some tips you guys could give me?
I also no longer use directional to hit anymore and started using zone and have gotten a lot better because of it. -
Honestly some games I feel like I’m doing well. Might be 8-0 up in the 7th with 12 hits
And the next game I’m 3 runs down and can’t find any gaps

Get a monitor. Simple as that. My neighbor has a nice new 4k Samsung and when I took my console over there I couldn't hit or pitch because of the lag. I don't know how some of you guys do it. It's rough trying to compete online without a gaming monitor.

As far as pitching goes this year......if you are using pinpoint stick with that the entire time. While it is brand new this year, it is by far leaps and bounds better than analog, meter, and pulse. Figure out the pitchers you like to use regarding their timing, and find guys with pitch selections you like because once you can get their stuff down on pinpoint.......you'll be able to really maximize your skills with them on the mound.
Hitting is a whole different breed. Stick to zone, and don't look back. Find whatever is comfortable for you most with your pci settings, and whatever hitting camera you're most comfortable with. It's also not always about the cards with the highest or best stats either......Sometimes it really just comes down to the guys that you like regarding their swing, stance, timing...........It actually does go a long way on that front.
Take some BP with the best/fastest pitchers in the game to time up fastballs while also getting the offspeed paint dotting specialists..............and a monitor would definitely help if you really want to give yourself the best opportunities to succeed online at your max potential. Hope any of this helps you.

Its all about game mode if you're on a TV. I own a monitor and new TV and I honestly prefer the TV. Unless you are trying to be a top player, a TV will do everything you need. Check your settings for game mode. Try it out.

This sounds promising. Does it help with the lag online? Or how do you feel it improves your game? I have a TV that works great for offline but I struggle with online play.

The lag online would be either your internet or possibly the system you play on. Are you playing on PS4 or PS5? Game mode strips a bit of color but improves your input lag greatly. To give you a comparision, my 65 inch TV has around 10-12ms input lag and my 1 year old monitor has around the same. DO NOT get tricked by brands advertising 1 or 2 ms. That's not input lag they're referring to. If you have an older TV (3-5) years old you may not get the same results. Almost all newer TVs boast awesome input lag rates in game mode. Doesn't need to be 65 inch either. I also have a 43 inch that's incredible too.

A few years ago when I wanted to see how far I could push my skill I opted for a monitor. I did great on it. But then something happened that made me hate the game. I done got gud. I became almost obsessed with online ranked. I bought blue light glasses, stick mods and anything that claimed to make me a better gamer. It was dumb. I stopped having fun and it felt like work. Long story short, I was transporting my monitor in my truck one day and the way I had it sitting on the backseat ended up putting a black out spot on the screen. I went back to the tv and came back to reality. The last 2 years I’ve been back on the old TV. I don’t play online as much and I’m very content on mainly being an offline player. I have a lot more fun not being as competitive. I can still play alright online but I don’t care about “how good” I am anymore.

I’m not much help in the hitting department but I think you’ll consistently see advice in other posts that says take pitches, work on your eye and be disciplined with your swings. Especially early in counts. If a pitch isn’t in your spot where you’re looking, don’t swing. Don’t be afraid to take a strike or two.
I do OK pitching and I think the biggest thing is to be unpredictable. Mix up speeds and locations, tunnel pitches, be willing to throw just about anything in just about any situation. Keep your opponent off balance and guessing. Pay attention to your pitch sequences. Even if you don’t think you have a pattern, you probably do and good opponents will pick up on it.

I'm still trying to break myself from swinging at everything. Nevermind being early. Tbh my timing isn't bad.
Its the fact that I swing at every pitch and its like a reflex for me because even after its done I still swing and get a very late LMAO -

Yea it's really about how competitive you want to be. At the end of the day a monitor will probably get you farther but unless you want to make top 20 or so, a TV is good. For what its worth I haven't played much online this year but last I made top 50 twice using a TV. Its all about time and effort

First pitches are my biggest weakness. Overall I'm way worse after work, zero patience. My best performances come in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.
