In the long term, you will not lose on cards you can't get anymore like ws, br and events unless they do something crazy and make them available again which they haven't done before.
The price volatility is going to depend on how hard or easy it is to complete collection. Safest best is to buy the cheapest cards in each collection as these will be the ones peeps buy first to complete. Also spread it out and buy some from each collection. One or two will be harder to complete than others.
Ps. If you buy pack cards like KS, be mindful of a flash sale. It will tank their value.
I'm not sure where you are getting your information from but they have definitely re-released WS, BR, and event rewards. Its just that it isn't until the end so it doesn't matter at that point
Yes, you're correct, they do at the end of the game cycle but we are only in the 5th that's a very long way away. And think it was only WS cards. I don't think it was BR or event rewards the good ones had a 1M wait list forever and still might.
My point was you will be fine with the rare cards going up in value for a long time, unless they do something they haven't done before.
You saying Harper and Jansen are going to be 1m cards at some point?
I wasn't sure how to judge this with the 100 point reward now. My 11/17/20 1m order for Billy Wagner hasn't been filled yet in 20 haha
For those 2 specifically yes, but not while they can still be had in BR. Once they are gone they will steadily go up. Jansen more so as he could be an end game card. Either way towards the end game peeps will be flush with stubbs and will just want them to have every card in the game. Not to mention with every collection, cards get locked which also decreases supply further increasing their rarity, demand and price.
Wagner, Chipper and Mays were the original 1 M cards. The other ones didn't hit 1 mil until there were no new rewards and no reason to pick any card but them from the pack. Now while I wouldn't be surprised if some of the older rewards hit 1 mil for a brief period of time, the BR program and WS cumulative rewards program were created specifically to avoid waitlisted cards. When there are no new rewards for those modes in November or so I'm willing to bet they will give a pack with all the cards in it every so many RS wins/ BR points. Not to mention they likely won't make team affinity cards sellable, which was another big reason for the waitlists

I've seen prices going up quite a bit already. There were several cards in the 20 to 30k range that I was working toward, but now they've doubled so I decided to just hope I have enough to finish the collection right now and wait until things calm down.

You're in no-mans land until the size of each collection required is revealed. If its less than 50k-60k range, for that collection, then some will be dumping the players that cost that much and their price will plummet. If more then they'll go up. I chose to invest in all of the legends that were 15-20k and under because I'm certain they'll be required. Good luck - if I had 250k sitting around ... it would be invested in gold & up legends/flashbacks right now.
This is good advice. Look for the cheapest cards of collections. That's what peeps will buy first to complete.
I'm short maybe 10-15 cards of having every flashback or legend. Having several duplicates of 20k or less cards. I think if you have 75-80% of every card type and all of the collection cards (Jackie, Ohtani, Chipper, Rivera, etc) you're good. I bought over 100k of diamonds that were at or near quick sale, and a bunch of silver flashbacks. The diamonds there is no danger of losing anything, and all the silvers and gold will most likely hit the price cap per card.

I think the go over the 10k mark.
SDS made the change to allow you to get all 30 in a single run however that change was made out of the blue and with so much other content that the map isn't a huge focus for a good segment of the player base additionally with the game on sale you have alot new players who likely haven't done the map as there is easier ways to get good cards.
There is 41 current prospect cards if we go with 80% is need you are looking at 32 cards remove the 2 free ones given out Franco and Kelenic there is the 30 so in alot of cases most people will likely need 10-15 of the golds. Current most are in the range of 6000 to 5000 of buy now so to see an increase of another 4k in stubs to push past 10k is very realistic

If I end up being a few short in Signature, I'll be okay since I plan on picking Vladimir Guerrero and I'll definitely get McCutchen when he becomes available. I'm going to start another Conquest USA map tonight to get the others I'm missing.

Yeah I already got every legend/flashback under 50k, was just wondering if I should spend the rest of the 250k on 4-6 more expensive ones. But I could invest in cheap duplicates. This wasn’t really for profit, it was to be able to complete the collection before the prices go insane and then having to wait until the next sale for things to go down…

In last years collection they very much required I would be surprised if they weren't.

They had a lightning collection last year if I remember correctly? It was leveled with pack/xp/stubb rewards I think.

In this case the value of cards jump because in the initial drop people scramble to pick up the cheapest option and deplet inventory. This then allows those to sell their inventory for HUGE profits.
There are already cases of this as I purchased David Justice for 44k about 2 weeks ago and now he is over 100k, he will jump more.
The BR reward pack gold cards will jump as are good majority of the player base likely sells there cards off.
People in this forum are prepared but we are a small segment of the community, even those who follow streamers and watch their videos won't be as prepared cause they don't have the stub capital to do what they suggest.
I have no intention of completing the collection today as I will sell off cards that will return to circulation easily so Headliner cards, gold BR cards, gold prospects cards.

I bought Markakis for 42k a few weeks ago, he's going for 225k right now. Bought the low end awards for around 12k a few weeks ago and they're all 35k-75k now. Market has already gone up. It will skyrocket when the collection drops, then tank later on in the day from everyone trying to sell off duplicates. A few days and the market will be up from what it is now. I don't think it will be a huge increase but it will go up.
