Does anyone ever score runs in the first inning vs cpu in conquest? I swear this must be coded into the game that none will be scored top 1.

Now I’ll be honest, I hate taking pitches so I swing early and often. The players are so good now that getting the pci on the ball on veteran is not that hard.

I know people are going to say, “Take pitches and work the count” but I can’t be bothered to do that vs the cpu. I’ll just keep hitting the ball hard twice (for an out) and striking out once until the game decides the LS bronze starter can give up a run. He’s going to pitch into the third anyway.

So are the rest of you scoring in the first inning, ever?

I score most of my runs in conquest in the first inning. If you aren't willing to work the count then you are gonna have a harder time.

Yeah, I figured. I just can’t be bothered. If the game is going to throw me first pitch meatballs, I’m swinging.

It’s not like I ever really lose a game. It’s just interesting to observe what actually falls for a hit and what doesn’t.

My last game, all the hard hit balls over the plate went for outs. The hits were all borderline pitches on the edges with poorer pci placement.

I feel your pain and I do think it's by design. The very first pitch is almost always right down the middle, and it always floats harmlessly to an OF (usually on the warning track). What I've ended up doing is putting a 99 speed lead off. 2nd and 3rd hitters are contact guys. All my power guys 4th on. Sometimes I'll get a gapper and score the leadoff guy, but most of the time I just win the games in the 2nd or 3rd innings.

I get the not wanting to work the count. I like to play out the games until I'm at a huge stack and can eat up all the 1s and 2s. I mix a lot of player missions into my conquest teams, so quantity is usually better than quality. I'm not working the count with a bronze pitcher and wasting the time. Gold or diamond I might just to get them tired.
