How are you elite batters reading pitches
-
I’ve seen several people on here claiming they can tell if a pitch is a strike or ball right after it leaves the hand. What are you looking for?
I personally have the opposite problem. Forced to make a split second decision and majority of pitches look super juicy to me. The curve ball in the dirt in particular kills me. Sliders that start over the corner and break outside get me also.
Any tips to clean this up? I’m currently using Strike Zone 2. I tried Show 15 but it’s hard to time anything.

This is me as well. I had a great conversation with a guy that destroyed me in a BR game a couple nights ago. I msg’d him after the game asking how he had perfect pci placement so he gave some tips to try. This is my first year so that patience, anticipation, repetition and practice need more time.

Experience over everything else. The more you see a certain pitch, the faster you'll recognize its pattern and the faster you will react. There is no trick to it, repetition and practice is all it is.

While looking at the ball leaving the pitcher's hand, you can usually tell if its gonna end up outside of the strike zone based on the angle it takes. Getting lots of reps is the only way to get good at this. One drill that has helped me is going in batting practice and just tracking the ball with my PCI without swinging. After a while you pick up on the angles of strikes vs balls.

i don't leave my PCI at the center then react
i start off either inside high or low depending on the pitcher...usually high if it's a high velocity pitcher and low if a lower velocity pitchewr

I wouldn't even dare make an estimation but its certainly a whole lot.

I'd guess more than that if you're patient. Average around 100 pitches per 9 inning game, you'd only have to play 1000 games. I'd bet between vs CPU & humans you've probably seen over 1m.

I'm not an elite hitter but I don't think I'm terrible. Last year to help out at first when playing conquest and I couldn't hit a guy I would go to replay and just keep watching their motion to find their release point. Then just stare at the brim of their cap until the ball comes out of the hand.

Fastballs that come in at 100-102 mph with outlier basically got to swing as soon as you see there hands go up otherwise your late on it , I wonder with people who play on a monitor if it’s the same ordeal .

Change your TV settings to game mode… then at the main screen of the game go to settings- video- and change the game resolution to faster. It’ll reduce the resolution to 1080p and help a little with the input lag

SDS needs to clean it up. The timing windows change by the day

I feel really stupid but I can't find the settings you speak of on the main screen of the game. Are you PS4 or 5?

They don't exist on PS5 version of the game. Also, make sure you have your PS5 in performance mode. Can't recall where that is but it's in PS5 settings. Maybe under game data.

I switch to a cheepo monitor recently the game feel smoother and I'm early on most pitch... so for me I'll say I got a wider time window to figure it out and I still sukc

Patience is
Only look for your pitch till 2 strikes even then look for something. For me it’s pitches up that i can destroy so i only look for pitches up until 2 strikes then i battle. People tend to panic in 1-0 and 2-0 counts so chances you see a high fastball increase a lot
-
Another tip that i don't think a lot of people do is after about the first 3-4 innings, go in Pitcher Analysis and look at where your opponent is throwing relative to the zone. You can also see what he throws most as his 1st pitch, when ahead in the count, when behind in the count etc to help with your pitch anticipation. It's a very underrated tool.
