I thought I was playing a realistic simulation

You shouldn’t be out every single time you make good timing and contact on pitches down the middle when hitting with Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado while my team momentum is maxed out. Meanwhile, the computer hits low and away high 90s fastballs for doubles and pretty much any ball over the plate to a superstar is a home run.

That's pretty realistic for Paul Goldschmidt in real life, great contact peripherals, [censored] results.

What level are you playing on? I've run through a few m2o runs and even though I had a lot of hard hits that were outs, I still never failed many moments in those runs. Rarely gave up a run though so that helps.

Team momentum does not affect you at all when you are in full control. It only affects the simulation portion in between the parts you control.
That being said I do notice the AI changes (not just on Dynamic) between games, especially in the playoffs if the opponent has not won a game yet. I've had games where the batters suddenly turn into HOF hitting, nailing wall shots off sinkers 5 inches below the zone. And I've had relievers in red tiredness paint the corners over and over against me. Then if I lose the next game deGrom ends up grooving changeups down the middle and I win by double digits. It's just a quirky mode in the playoffs.
