Ballplayer in DD help

I'm relatively new to using a ballplayer this year and could use some help. I started using him in RTTS a bit as a shortstop, but didn't get far. I found a picture online which shows how to get to the diamond Hawk build as a shortstop so I was kind of following that pathway. As a bronze archetype he was a second basemen. I played through a bunch of conquest games with him and unlocked the silver slugging sparkplug. The only problem is now my ballplayer can only be used in the outfield with LF primary. Is that normal? As I eventually rank him up to gold and then diamond Hawk will I eventually be able to get him back into the infield?

Once you get the diamond hawk perk you can play him at SS in DD

If you're playing offline, it shouldn't matter too much. If you want to use him online ranked at while leveling the ballplayer I assume you can probably just do the catcher CAP trick for any other position.
