Robert Alomar - Bluejay edition.
Not happening and I'm not sure why his other card hasn't been removed yet.
Why is that?
So he should be canceled cuz someone accused him of something 7 years ago?
MLB did a months long investigation on the matter and came away firing him and putting him on the restriction list.. basically meaning he will never work in MLB again. Similar to Pete Rose
That obviously paints a guilty picture.
The Jays removed his retired #12 from the rafters and his name from the wall of excellence as well.
None of those things would happen had he been found remotely innocent. So yes. He should be cancelled for what he did.
I hate this argument. Aroldis chapman nearly killed his fiance and he is a star in the league. It's easier to make alomar disappear because he isn't a player anymore. You are just assuming guilt because they did x y and z.. They have released notta about it and nothing has been released from any other end either. Again in today's cancel culture climate, it's just easier to cancel said non playing individual and keep the ones that are still playing. MLB probably won't ever release anything about this. They don't have to. BTW i have no idea if alomar did what he was accused of but no one knows.

You finished this paragraph stating you haven't even looked into it... Geesh...
It's all out there to read up on what happened with Alomar. It's not secret at all. He's barely even fighting it.
In today's cancel culture, it's also just as easy to attribute disgusting acts such as this (not the first time either from Alomar) to being "cancel culture" and nothing more.. it's sad we've gotten to the point where everything is one extreme or another.
How about you read up on it, then make your own decision how you feel about the guy.
He was beloved by Blue jay fans. A legend.. there isn't a single Jays fan out there who has looked into this that disagrees with the outcome of "cancelling" him. He deserves it. -

All we know is an investigation was done and we are supposed to assume because mlb and the jays did something that they must have found something. We have no idea.. Again look at chapman, osuna, and a dozen or so other players who have nearly killed their significant others and they are still in the league. I am a braves fan and marcell will be suspended for a few games and that will be it because he still has worth. He should be out of the league. We have seen the evidence of what he did but it won't happen no different than chapman.

This is the allegations. The fact they conducted an investigation into this and came away with the outcome certainly doesn't go in Alomar's favor.. this is the same guy who has also had the whole HIV allegations years ago, as well as other indiscretions. This isn't out of left field for him. It's what most people already suspected.
Is he guilty in court? No. Because she didn't press charges. She just wanted him held accountable. She wasn't looking for money or fame either...And I don't know what domestic abuse has to do with sexually harassing an 18 year old. And why that, while also very very bad, should discredit this lady's claims and not hold Roberto accountable..

My point is you are ok with cancelling a guy that you have no idea what the evidence is. You are not in favor of the others being cancelled when we know what they did. I always thought the hiv thing was just his wife being mad because he was bisexual. I don't know tho but i am pretty sure we would know if he had hiv by now so obviously she was wrong.

We know exactly what the allegations are and the outcome of what MLB's months long investigation concluded, followed by the Toronto Blue Jays and Rogers Corp investigation.
You can live HIV positive for a lifetime these days by the way. So that is just a dumb thing to say.
And no. The HIV thing was he was sued for concealing HIV to a girlfriend, and then another lawsuit a year later that his then wife claimed the same thing. They settled out of court for millions in that one.. maybe both I forget. -

They settled out of court for millions in that one.. maybe both I forget. My problem is you assume that the two organizations found something. My whole point was they don't have to find anything. It is easier for them to get rid of the guy who isn't playing. That is my whole reasoning for bringing up current players who have done way worse and we as a fan base know it. No one is trying to cancel those guys. We have seen the evidence. But we will cancel someone without seeing any evidence because it's easier.
So you think a story that is over ten years old would in no way some how be found out by today? so you think the blue jays who just cancelled him wouldn't just leak he has hiv?.. Obviously they tested him before he took a job with them as most employers do. You don't think one person in the organization would have leaked it?

And why that, while also very very bad, should discredit this lady's claims and not hold Roberto accountable..
My point is you are ok with cancelling a guy that you have no idea what the evidence is. You are not in favor of the others being cancelled when we know what they did. I always thought the hiv thing was just his wife being mad because he was bisexual. I don't know tho but i am pretty sure we would know if he had hiv by now so obviously she was wrong.
Huh? I never said anything about the others. We are talking about Alomar here. Full stop..
First off. Why would the Toronto Blue Jays want to go ahead and completely drop a franchise legend and sever all ties without reason? It's not easier. It's an absolute disaster for an organization who has literally one HOFer wearing the Blue Jays cap. (Halladay went in with neither Jays or Phillies).
And we've seen what evidence? Literally every case about domestic abuse is allegations, except Ozuna where the witness is a police officer. Ozuna isn't getting an 8 game suspension lol. He's done.. most likely getting jail time too.
Roberto Osuna'a case was even dropped by the way. So you're incorrect on seeing evidence. It's no different than this.Regardless. Knowing what we know, this is enough to lose a job. And that's the outcome here. Him being cancelled is in the court of public opinion. And to do your own research on the matter and come away with how you feel about him is up to you. My result is to stop caring about a guy I've watched since I was a kid, a guy who brought me lots of joy as a kid too, with 2 WS championships... To think conspiracy is ridiculous when it benefits nobody.
My point to bring up the HIV lawsuits was to point out that there is a thread of behaviour from Alomar.I think I'll leave it at that because as usual when chatting with you, we go nowhere lol. Always a pleasure buddy
