Question about extra base hits in Moments (MLB rules)
-
Ok, so we all know that if a runner is on second and you hit something to the gap and try for a double; you don't get credit for it if the outfielder throws the ball to home to try to get that batter out. Something about it being uncontested.
However, if you would intentionally run past second towers third and get tagged out at third; would you get credit for a double or would it still be a basehit?

Never mind. I can’t read.

Single
Advanced to 2nd on Fielder's Choice
Thrown out advancing to 3rd -
Interesting. It should not and probably would not to a scorer but who knows in this game.

Should be a double and out trying to advance. if you are more than halfway toward second when the cutoff man gets it and relays to home- should be a double too, a lot of the time the game gets that right but it is iffy at times.

Normally it's just a straight shot from the outfield to home. At least what I've seen in my attempts.
Just curious though how they actually consider something an extra base hit in that situation.

If the official scorer thinks the player would have gotten to second had the OF not thrown home tying to get the other runner - two-bagger. On a walk-off hit (outside of a homer or a ground-rule double) they usually award the batter the number of bases it took the runner to score. Ex: If a runner is at third and you lace on off the wall, it's just a single. But if he's at second and the batter bothers to go to second it's a double.
