No Money Spent, No Crazy Flipping -- Just Bought Trout
-
Solid Advice. You have to give up something somewhere to get something. Did I want Buxton? Yes. But instead I sold my Topps now an bought Acuna to help finish off the NL East. If you sell all the cards you pull and are dupes, stubs are easy to comeby. I also dont get people using stubs on packs. Generally the return is terrible. Only packs I open are the free ones from the programs.

Sell the House to afford the kitchen Sink.

I’ve done the no money spent every year. I’ve been able to get trout every year. I did pull him early last year in a free pack. This year I made it a priority to get him as fast as I could. Got him 2 weeks ago. I’m super close to getting acuna. I actively seek out any content that will get me any free packs. Affinities, standards, headliners.....
You’re right you will have to sell off some good players you earned. I have some investments in cards but I don’t really flip cards. The best way to get trout on a nms is just complete all the content as it comes out. Showdowns, conquest, moments

Just putting this out there for peeps that are no money spent and don't want to spend stupid time flipping on the market... I bought the $100 digital deluxe, no money spent, no crazy flipping (couple one off here or there for a quick couple thousand), and I just bought Mike Trout for 400,069.
I have AL Central done, only need Bregman, Rendon, and cards under diamond to finish Astros and Angels... I have Yanks and Sox left in east...
If you want to do this you have to be willing to sell cards and not keep everything you earn. I chose Piazza and held him, I also bought the other two bosses when they dropped to under 30k since it was announced when the inning end you can't complete, lack of supply meant their price would boost. Sold Valenzuela for 103k, Piazza for 55k, Lofton for 48k... I sold all of my April Topps Nows (except for 3 collected) for big time gains. I collected lots of Rewards from doing a CAP pitcher and blasting through RTTS (AL team DH) and using my CAP in conquest for stats in the archtype program, I got 20 points until the diamond path is fully completed... I did the conquest maps (except for USA and TA division maps) and sold off any non-live series diamonds I got except for brad Miller and rookie Kenley... Most important I bought 0 packs and just do packs via rewards, there's so many.
It can be done, it took me 1 month. You have to be willing to sell off some cards you like (like Piazza for me) to get it done but it is certainly doable and I have a great team for RS, especially considering all the studs in the POTM program you get for free and 42s like Gallo.
You get so many stubs and rewards from playing you just need to save save save.
First off Congrats on getting the GOAT
Absolutely it can be done, i got him 10 days in just from working the market, margins were great I even got to keep Piaza/Lofton and Valenzuela. I lucked out in packing Salmon x2, Ramirez and a selling a few of the expensive perks.
I've now started work on the National League and I think it nay be a lot tougher then the American League.

Thanks for making my point that doing collections on no money spent is absolutely horrid. So you still have the entire NL, big money Yankees and some other AL teams. You are no where close to being done. By the time you get to 40 wins in RS or get to WS (pending you can do these), those awards will probably be around 50k. Not even half of what it cost to get Cole.

After this year I will never buy packs again. I've had a great no money spent experience so far
I spent over 2500 dollars last year...no trout...
This year 0 spent trout plus a ton of high diamonds...I will never spend money ever on stubs. It's all about that conquest life. How did you not get Trout if you spent over $2500?
I was a pack hoooooreeee. I didn't want to buy it, I wanted to pack it. It was so stupid, but I just loved the gambling of it.
It was incredibly ignorant so save the I am the dumbest person on the planet post. I agree.I did this in the year 2017. I spent 4k on stubs for packs. Never once pulled trout. I vowed to never spend money on the game for packs ever again and never did. I have spent money in years past that but I just bought cards out right rather than buying packs. This year though I have spent 0 dollars and I am amazed how much stubs and cards ive pulled from free stuff,
-
agreed. i completed AL collections and about 5 teams including the Braves so far on NL.. You just gotta play the game, tons of rewards in the various game modes.

Great advice to new players. I haven’t bought many players from the marketplace. Honestly just a handful of golds who I thought would go Diamond so I can save myself some stubs. Haven’t bought a single pack either and just saved my stubs and sold off duplicate cards items and I have over 400k. My goal is to save up until I have 2 million stubs or so then complete the live series collection. Not in a big hurry seeing as so many great cards are still yet to be released making the live series cheap by the time I get to it

I mean it's not exactly horrid, I got Trout and Rickey in my OF right now... Only NYY, BOS, TB left... I got 43k and will have my inning 2 boss soon who I will sell. I have the Topps Nows from May in my inventory to sell off once the May POTM drops and those prices skyrocket. I will have AL completed in 2 weeks when those Topps prices peak.
Oh, and did I mention I own 222 Tyler Glasnows? That makes me a millionaire when he goes diamond, or I could quicksell all duplicates now and finish AL today if I really wanted to.
Full collection wasn't meant to be done immediately, especially no money spent and without flipping, I'll have it done before the All Star Game though.
Sure, it takes time, but just illustrating that if you are smart with your resources, save stubs, you can get Trout (and do the full collection) without spending money or hours of flipping. It's called patience.
