Extra inning rule with pitchers running

The game seems to not handle the situation where in extra innings if the pitcher spot made the last out from the previous inning (via a pinch hitter) that at the start of the inning the team can choose to use the batter prior to that spot to be the runner. I should not have to use a pinch runner or have the pitcher run in that situation

I had a double knocked down to a single even though KEMP would have made it easy to 2nd because Seager got nailed out at home.
Ball went between left and center fielder and with Kemps speed they NEVER would have gotten him but whatever this game have more issues then the people at SDS not programming the rules of baseball in the game correctly.

That’s a new rule to 2021, right? Probably the reason why.
MLB got it wrong anyway. It shouldn’t be a rule. 2020 rule was better.

It is the 2020 rule. there is no 2021 rule, at least my search couldnt find any( if google cant find it.....)

Yeah, this just happened in Phils game tonight. McCutchen at second in top of 10th because Phils double switched and moved pitcher to the spot that would’ve been on base. I’m sure it’s a complicated programming rule, but should be addressed.

Good point; never thought of that!
My reference was a previous Mets game where it was mentioned in the commentary that a team on the previous day put the pitcher on base instead of the previous batter or something like that.
