Check swings

This is not to be a complaint or hate post whatsoever. Please do not argue over disagreement on the check swing mechanic.
I typically do pretty well in RS and make WS (currently sitting at 20-1, 815 rating).
The adjustment to check swings is affecting me greatly. I understand why they did it, and I’m ok with it. That being said, playing this game for an absurd amount of time over the past ~10 years has created many seemingly unbreakable habits.
I guess what I’m looking for here is advice on how to combat this, especially as we approach ages north of 30 and 40.

I would like the option to turn them off. I just want to swing when I press the button or move the stick.

Yeah they should just remove the feature from the game. That way you either swing or you don't and there's no more inner frustration over disagreements about the call.

My problem with the “fix” is that it causes you to swing through and potentially make contact when you are trying to check. I have no issue with checks being strikes more often, but quit having my attempted checks put the ball in play.

I am the same way. Been playing for years, usually WS player just not as much time to commit to it anymore but it is a very hard habit to break. I agree that it needed to be tweaked, I guess I would like a few more successful check swings as they are 80% or more counted as swings now but I am in the same boat. I was never one to check swing more than maybe 5 times in a game though but all 5 are strikes now

So I’m in a similar boat playing, pretty consistent WS and I also struggled to start off but I’ve started to realize that the game rewards you for working counts. So I try to shrink my zone and get rid of the corners and just look for stuff over the plate and I’ve found that it helps me quit checking on borderline pitches as much

Well my advice would be along the line I made my earlier argument; if you wanna swing, tap the button. If you don't wanna swing, just don't touch it at all. I know its tough to "unlearn" that because it's built up muscle memory, but that's the only piece of logical advice I could give.

The only adjustment I've noticed is you need to have a very light finger when checking. Much lighter than the past.

I thought it made sense last year how it was very difficult to check on power swings but easier on normal swings. Feel like they could at least make it easier to check on contact swings perhaps in order to accommodate people who have gotten used to a more check prone approach. Then again I don’t use the contact swing very often so perhaps they already have.

I usually sneak into the 800’s a few times a year and I’ve historically really leaned on check swings because I’m 42 and just not that quick. While the new check swing mechanic is more accurate and realistic, it’s hurt me a little bit but I’m getting better. Feels much more realistic and you can still successfully check a swing at a rate that seems appropriate. Just like with hitting in general, you just need to pick up the ball as best as you can. Easier said than done...
