Do not listen to streamers regarding collections

I have heard several streamers telling their people to sell certain cards like Cabrera to do collections. The only people that have collections done are:
people that spent money
flipped cards on the market
got extremely lucky with pulls
great players that win 12 games in BR and eventsLets be real, This is not most of us and if you haven't done these things, you are not close to collections. I have played this game a ton. Did all TA's, last BR with a 9 win reward, 60 event wins, 18 RS games and out of probably 3-400 show, ballin and TA packs I pulled 3 diamonds worth 50k. I have bought some live series cards but not even completed one division. I'm not mad, this is just how it is. At this rate it would take forever to do collections and frankly by the time I get them done there will be 1st baseman on par with Ortiz.
So why grind 40 event wins for Cabrera and sell him for say 1/3rd of Acuna's price tag? Think of it this way, at Cabrera's current price you would have to play this event 7 different times just to be able to afford Trout. Wouldn't your RS team be better with Cabrera, 90 Donaldson, etc rather than paying them stubs to Judge?
I really started thinking of this after selling Donaldson, Lofton and Cabrera. Those 3 cards could get me Mookie. My RS team would be better with those 3 than a Mookie card.
Just a food for thought thread because I think the majority of people playing are in a similar boat to me and are far away from completing collections.

Honestly a lot are a joke.. I remember a guy last year saying he made $300k stubs on one evening of flipping. Yah that’s bogus

I stream, but I’ve been saying you can sell him now for about 60k or hold on to him until after the event when his price will start to rise. It’s about whether or not you want the stubs now or not.
You can complete some collections with 60k and get 2-3 maybe more diamonds for the grind you did.
If you don’t plan on using him, it’s not a bad thing to sell him.

Yea, if it is a card you don't like, can't use or don't play well with it is better to sell.
For 60k, you could complete collections like Royals, Tigers, etc but what does that get you? More than likely a useless gold card that you can't use in RS. IMO, you are better off getting a Seaver or Donaldson that would improve your RS team. You are still going to be at a disadvantage when playing someone that has done collections but you still would anyway completing those small useless team collections.

That is totally doable.

I finished collections no money spent and don't fall into any of the categories you mentioned. God bless the RTTS sim glitch.

I’ll never understand why people feel the need to lie. It’s like the guy who told me he could do the 1st inning showdown in 30 minutes and complete all missions. It’s a lie.

NOT easily doable, but possible.

I was thinking more along the lines of the White Sox, only one diamond player at 20k gets you a 91 OVR 1B in Konerko. A's with Chapman downgraded are under 10k for the team, gets you an 87 OVR Eckersley, and more along those lines.
You can get multiple diamonds for cheap, not all of them are going to cost an arm and a leg right now.

Later in the year it is easily possible. Toward the end of 20 the 2020 Postseason cards were getting 5-7k per flip

So you didn't get any good pack pulls? I find that hard to believe with all the stuff I have done in the game. You could have played a lot more than me but I did event, all TA's and the first BR run. I could probably have 3 divisions done if I sold everything but I would have no good pitching for RS and would be using people like Gallo which is extremely hard in HOF and above. I am at 650k xp. Even with those divisions I would still be looking at needing a ton of stubs for Trout, NL and AL east. I also did not do the sim glitch. I do not like CAP in RS. I would rather lose without one than win with one.

I don't know what Konerko's stats are but is he even a viable option for RS especially HOF and above? Eckersley is not good in RS. Point being that most of those gold and diamond players for collections (especially for the Royals, Tigers, etc) are useless for RS. Yea, players like Finley, Posada, Glavine, etc are great but they cost a ton.
I can put a better team in RS with Lofton, Donaldson, Cabrera, etc than with most LS players or their collections. For instance, I bought Seager and Bellinger early and they were my worst two hitters in the lineup.
Yes, there are some cheap collections but they are cheap for a reason. Hardly any of those players are helpful in RS.

No that's not bogus especially with early access. I hadn't play MLB for 4 years , got early access, did not buy any stubs and the card flipping those first 4 days was insane!
There were cards I was buying for 200 stubs and flipping for 600-700 as fast as I could click buttons. And many buying for 300-350 and selling for 900 to 1k.
There were stretches in peak hours where I was buying cards about 1 every 10 seconds and they were selling within 5-10 seconds of listing them. Over and over and over again.
I was literally making about 60k+ in stubs an hour.
Before the game had the regular release I had already bought F. Hernandez, DeGrom, Cole, Donaldson, Soler, Wander Franco, Familia, Chapman and and the entire rest of my team including the bullpen and bench were all the best golds.
I had the two free 42 players from buying the digital version, sold them immediately and used the stubs to get right into flipping.Within 6-7 days from day 1 of early access I had also added Trout, Lofton, Ruth, Rivera, and Billy Wagner.
Honestly, it was so easy, it was stupid. Somewhat tedious, a grind, work, lol but fun and worth it.I had done lots of flipping last time I played and in other games so I was able to dive right in knowing the strategy but someone better at flipping then me, I wouldn't be surprised if many made more then 300k in an evening.

Everyone plays differently, I've done great with Eck in the past. Konerko, if I'm not mistaken is 90+ in all batting stats. D is going to struggle but that is expected with a card like that.
I'd always say test the card out before you sell it, but everyone will be different.
-
I'd see it as an investment. You can buy or grind for Cabrera now and sell him after this event ends when his price soars.

I did pull Gerrit Cole and four low diamonds, but in all honesty, I still would have completed the collections without any of those pulls. It just would have resulted in a couple more archetype grinds. I feel that taking advantage of that glitch is not really cheating. After all, you can buy stubs. That glitch just allowed you to make stubs without whipping out the credit card. It was worth it imo.
Also, I agree with you on not using the cap. I believe I have 12 or 13 diamond archetypes, and I don't use my cap online either. It was just for the diamond equipment and perks that I could sell after completing the programs.

Honestly good for you...
For me early access was a joke, every buy/sell order took 5 seconds to go through Because of the servers, seen people have this problem, and seen others where they aren’t effected, was extremely disappointed Becuase the early access was where you make the best capital

Wow, that's too bad. So you totally know what I was talking about.
I didn't hit any server problems really until the regular release and of course the day later when all the XBOX people joined. Nothing was ever slow for me during early access, had the odd DC but got back in immediately.
I have PS5, you? Wondering if that made a difference or I was just lucky. -

It's actually possible. But just as in real life, it takes stubs to make stubs
When they released the stage 4 TA last year, I made 2 million stubs in 3 days flipping gold live series cards. It’s very possible but right now gaps are too tight to make any real money flipping cards.
