For those struggling on Rookie or Veteran
-
I know a lot of the moments / showdown are on the 'easier' difficulties and I found myself struggling the first week or so but have recently found out I do a lot better on all star. It may be because the cpu throws more strikes lol.. not really sure but for those of yall struggling as well try a conquest game on all-star and see what happens!

The pitch speed is a bit faster so the offspeed is easier to time up. That’s my take anyway. The breaking pitches are SO slow on the lower difficulties.

Man I disagree. I regularly play offline. And I hovered between veteran and allstar on the games before this year. This year, there is a massive gap between veteran and all star hitting. Veteran is manageable to react to off speed when you’re expecting fastball. But allstar is ridiculous, if you guess wrong you ARE NOT getting a ‘good’ swing timing. And you’re probably getting a foul ball if you’re lucky enough not to pop up or hit a weak liner to 3B/1B
-
You’re probably not pulling center cut fastballs foul though.

Moments and showdown don’t play like Conquest/play vs CPU etc. Play Conquest on Veteran, you score so many runs and games are so long you’re bunting for outs in the second inning because you want to get it over with. In moments on Veteran I can push a button for an hour or lose a showdown on the 1st boss with 15 straight outs with a guy on 3rd down one. It feels like the ball is pulled by gravity once near the warning track, and rarely is a dinger rewarding, feels like a script.
-
Honestly, people need to play on at least All-Star to start or they will struggle with online play.
-
While that is somewhat true, as Yank pointed out, moments (and showdowns for that matter) don’t play like the difficulty they are on. If they did, nobody would ever complain about having to take several tries at a moment or failing a showdown.
There has been a progression over the last few games where the ai throws fewer and fewer pitches to hit in these modes. If you go back to rookie or veteran on, say, 16, the ai pretty much throws down the middle at least a couple times per plate appearance.

THIS. I've been saying for years that SDS has sliders on Moments or something. I play a ton of Conquest on Veteran and All Star and hit well with alot of HRs but then go into a moment on Veteran with good hitters and they're all swinging noodles. Like everything you'd normally hit out just dies at the warning track. It's just really weird and I always find myself saying F it these moments are BS! I've gotten all the Topps ones but some of the TA ones I've tried and it's like WTF is wrong with this game lol.

A good example is the Topps now moment between Tatis and Bauer. It says veteran but for sure the timing windows are way tighter.

Yeah good thing this one is one AB and not a “get x amount of TB or XBH”...

Online, they did something with the timing window...I played 20 as late as a few days before 21 release and I can’t time anything on all star, I’m ahead of everything, no matter the pitch
