Slide step cheese

So, first time seeing it this year. Seems that when they do it, it’s skips a frame or something, is it a legit glitch? Or working as intended. He literally did it the whole time someone was on base or with a reliever in the stretch. Ended up still getting the W, and banged 15 hits off him but seemed to throw off the timing window.

People slide step to help throw runners out when stealing
If there’s a speedster on 1st base with less than 2 outs, you bet your sweet [censored] I’m slide stepping. I’m not giving up free bases
And it’s not a glitch. It’s a really effective way to throw off timing for your opponent

Yea, I understand that, but he was doing it with nobody on base....

Its not cheese, its a strategy to throw off the hitters timing.
Slide stepping makes it harder to locate so its not always a great tool (especially if you're using pinpoint). With other inputs, you can slide step with almost any pitch fairly easily. Most players see slide step and assume fastball and are waaaay early on pitches.
