Length of MTO

MTO is my favorite mode in this game, and I know a lot of people ask questions about it. I try to answer a lot of them in my answers in this thread, especially those pertaining to time. So...
Short Answer: I have done 6
Dodgers (HOF and AS): 11.5 hours
Padres (AS): 12 hours
Angels (HOF and AS): 11.5 hours
Pirates (Veteran): 6.5 hours
Tigers (Veteran): 7.5 hours
Rays (HOF): 8.5 hours (Lost Game 5 of ALDS*)
Twins (HOR): 15 hoursLong Answer: Read lower in the thread and I do breakdowns of each one.

I did the Rangers and it took me only 6-7 hours. Granted I didn't play my last 30 games because I clinched everything so early.

Sounds right. Just taking out the wild card game would be an hour.
What difficulty did you do?

I did the whole thing on all star and beat the Indians in the World Series.Trades: Brett Gardner, Joc Pederson, Starling Marte. I targeted Joc and left handed bats with speed.

Personally, I don't mind the length of the regular season portion, but having to play multiple innings of every single playoff game really makes it drag along. Initially I thought about doing an MTO with every team for team affinity points, but I don't see that happening now. The fun is wearing off and it's become a chore to finish the 1st one (Rays in the ALCS).

I too thought about doing it once for every team. Then I came to my senses and realized I would hate that grinder.

I started a Padres run last night but may abandon it. I lose a lot during my simulated games it seems despite being "on fire".
Might do a restart or just use the same time to grind out padre innings and stat missions in conquest.

Angels
I did regular season hall of fame. SDS changed affinity with the last patch so I got a lot more points after the all star break even though both were max. After losing the first playoff game, I dropped to all star because I didn’t want to have to play 3 full games if I lost the next one. I beat the braves in the World Series.Trades: Villar for prospect. I tried to go after some big names, but never really got great offers.

This was my original post. I moved it down here to edit the original. So, the team affinity will be lower than what is given out now.
Dodgers
I started on hall of fame but switched to all star because I was worried I would miss the playoffs. I made it as the home wild card and won the World Series against Astros.Trades: Yelich in June for prospect, Story offered in July for Kike Hernandez but declined, other non consequential denied.

Pirates
I did the whole thing on Veteran and my goal was to do it as quickly as possible, because I had read that several people had done a whole run in 7 or 8 hours and my three previous had taken over 11 hours. So, I avoided all player locks as pitcher if I could. Also, if I got up by two runs I pretty much got out as quickly as I could by running into outs or just striking out. I only played a total of 6 innings in extra innings in the whole run. I beat the Athletics in the World Series.Trades: Josh Hader, Aroldis Chapman, JR Realmuto, and Andrelton Simmons. All of this were for prospects or low level MLB guys.

Total affinity: 52I don't know how you could go much faster than this. I had four player lock missions as pitchers to get no hitters, which take up a little time. And, other than the extra innings, there is only a little bit of overall time to shave here since I was getting out as fast as I could once I got the lead. Overall, it was fun and relaxing to play on Veteran. But, I don't necessarily love the idea of grinding to finish as quickly as possible, since that makes this feel like work. And, I really enjoy this mode.

Thanks for the breakdowns! I’m gonna do it on veteran and try to get the 52 points. I wanna go quick but it seems like I would enjoy this mode as well.

I always seem to do bad on Vet. Wondering if I should just play on AS or Dynamic

It does mess with your timing and on veteran you just start swinging at everything. I think all star is the sweet spot. You have to be a little patient, but, for me at least, if I decide I have to win I usually will. I just did veteran because I wanted to see how fast I could do a run.

Tigers
I did the whole thing on Veteran and my goal was to do it quickly. So, I avoided all player locks as pitcher if I could. The bullpen for Detroit is so bad, I had a hard time closing out games at first. Then I picked up Chapman and the Detroit closer got better. So, that helped. I played a total of 12 innings in extra innings in the whole run, mostly in the first two months, because the players were so low, and I have no patience on veteran. I swing at everything. I beat the Dodgers in the World Series.Trades: Conforto, Aroldis Chapman. I tried setting my sights high with guys like lindor and trout but no bite.

How do you skip player lock moments, if possible?

@bhall09 said in Length of MTO:

You can’t skip the moments for guys that are on your team. But, I avoid the pitching ones by not trading for a starting pitcher or calling up a starting pitcher prospect. But, if my big league pitcher has a no hitter possibility theyn I have to do it.

So you get about 50 team affinity points on veteran? I might do the Rangers than. I want FOTF Joey Gallo

If you get the max at all star and end of the season. And, of course, win the World Series. If you do rangers, share how it is. That stadium has a lot going on it. Not sure if I could play al those home games there.

Do the stubs, XP and program stars for just playing equal about the same as if you were playing conquest or something? I actually think this might be my go-to mode for a while becuase I’m getting frustrated with showdown and moments.
-
I would guess so. But, you have to remember that you might only play an inning or two. So, you are not building up that xp like you might in other modes. Therefore, you’re not building up those stars. I might try to keep track of this in my next run.
