That’s a real shame. I was planning on getting The Show when I could get my hands on a PS5. Conquest is my favorite mode and as an offline only player, I feel like I’m going to miss out on a lot of content as I can’t get the game for a while. At least in prior years I could do the maps later even if there weren’t great rewards for the 20 or so stars I got for doing it after the inning was over. From what I’m hearing, I might be better off skipping this year.
You can buy the show now even if you don’t have a PS5 like the majority of people. You get dual entitlement as long as you get one of the deluxe editions.
I know I could. I guess I was being cheap. I usually wait until the price drops to about $30 for the standard edition before buying it but I guess I will miss out on plenty of the maps this year. I’m not mad. I’m just disappointed.

Coming from a long time player you could often brag on SDS compared to 2K and EA for how they handled DD compared to the respective UT modes from other sports games. This year feels like an extreme step backwards.
-
Removing the XP track is a shot across the bow for long term reward grind. This shows SDS seems to be more focused on 2K's seasonal model, which is further supported by...
-
Removing the ability to make progress on programs and removing conquest maps at the end of an Inning is a major step back, and speaks to plans to limit the amount of free content available. SDS seems to be relying on increasing FOMO as a way to increase player engagement and microtransaction purchases
-
Reduction of daily mission XP is another issue. Previously daily missions provided program stars. With the switch to XP, the % toward the inning progress has dropped significantly (Daily Missions used to provide roughly 0.66% toward reaching the boss packs, now they provide around 0.05%)
-
Removal of after game drops will push more pack sales and microtransaction purchases.
I just don't understand the reasoning behind several of these changes. SDS has moved forward with making the game more casual friendly in some aspects (such as the easier ability to get BR and WS rewards), but has carved out so much in the opposite direction that it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth for the game. This used to be the game I bragged on for being "different" than other Ultimate Team modes. I fear that may no longer be the case.
Very good points! Daily missions xp is the biggest for me, to explain the percentages in other words (for non math people), it will require 10 days of daily missions to equal 1 day previously. Pretty much making them pointless to even worry about! Please SDS tell me this is am oversight or just remove daily missions.
SDS needing to fuel more stub purchases is a result of Xbox making this game free on day one on the pass.

Oh well that makes sense. Maybe they’ll change the minds about expiring the maps. Not sure I understand the reason for the change. Especially since it seems like it’s going to be much more difficult to earn the xp needed to complete the innings.

It says it on the map in game. "Expires May 7, 3:00 PM"
I could be wrong but maybe the "expires may 7" part is just there so people know when the 1st inning program ends without having to back out of the conquest menu and go into the program itself. If the map itself dissappear on May 7th that would be a poor decision on their part.

Hmm that’s an interesting thought...
Either way I doubt it would disappear. I figured the expiration just meant that it wouldn’t count towards the inning program.

This is one of many post that 48 hours in to teh release are crying about changes that have not had a chance to play out. Come May 7 what would it say about the change if the Boss cards are 20k or less and it's due to 85% of players making the 350k mark. Things change over time and there is alot of great changes that have occurred and some need to still play out to see what its actual impact is. To me if the 1st Inning and it's parts like Conquest do disappear after May 7 and it acts like a Season and it's not there anymore I might be OK with that. I don't hear Fortnight or COD players compling when a battle pass goes away.

I have to agree with OP. You can still get very good cards for free and just for grind, but I also see some steps backwards...
For example, I'm doing US conquest map right now (currently in 1/3 of it) and I remember from last year, that you could get tons of hidden rewards. In this year I've got two standard packs so far as a hidden reward... Is it any better in first inning conquest?
And xp grind seem really tough, because they give you so small amounts. In last year inning conquest was about 10% stars needed, now it's only 4%, this is crazy. And for another example, 42 pre-order players, last year you could get them all in xp reward path, now you can only buy them in the auction house.
I still love this game, but I don't like where it is going

Being saying this the last 1-2 years, SDS is going the way of EA with their scummy microtransactions, slowly but surely.

I do hope that is the case, we probably won't know until May 7th though unless SDS wants to tell us how the Inning transition is actually going to work.

I would bet that there are more of those packs coming soon. Likely in conquest maps or future inning programs. There's a 42 series collection. I can't imagine they made a collection and then capped the supply of the cards needed by only giving out 1-2 of them to everyone who pre-ordered.
