Well this sucks.

Came home from a night out and we had a power surge from a storm that knocked out my PS4.
Makes a loud noise when it turns on, screen flickers, and it gets REAL hot.
Guess I'm cancelling my pre-order for The Show 21 until I can get another console. (Even if I can because everyplace is sold out)
Oh well, guess l'll have to play catch-up later in the season.

Sorry to hear that mate, wondering if the fan is kaput? Find a YouTube tear down clip for your PS4 version to check where the fan is, then take the lid off and see if the fan runs on startup. Hopefully it could be just a part to replace.

Really sorry to hear that bud, i really don't know what i'd do without mine so i feel your pain here. Best of luck in finding another one or getting this one fixed hopefully like Red_Ted_is_Back said this will be a fixable situation.

Forgive my ignorance but did you have your ps4 on a surge protector? I learned my lesson to never have my ps4 plugged in when Im not playing(lost a ps4 prior).I recommend getting the series s and gamepass if you are open to the console switch, but the show will be free for you.

I got blue light of death on mine literally the day 19 was released. I got to play like one game and my ps4 crashed and wouldn’t turn back on. I had waited all day to play. I was pissed.

Thanks for the concerns everyone. As for taking it apart; I can't do that it's covered under my renter's insurance and if I mess with it;; it will void the coverage.
Switching to an XBox wouldn't be feasible as I JUST spent $60 on a year of Ps+.
But I think I found a solution. My brother-in-law is getting a PS5 this weekend. He said that I can use his PS4 until I can buy my own.
