    Man just so fun to watch these games in full. players were so different. Don Gullet was hurt in the KC series. He comes in with a “sore shoulder” and pitches 9 innings for the Yankees in game 1 of the WS.

    What a classic series. Love watching these old classics

    And then he barely pitches in 1978 and has to retire in the prime of his career because of arm injuries. Pretty sad tbh, he was a good pitcher.

    It was a totally different game back then.

    He actually retired in 1980 but I don’t think he played in 78-79 - and it was from bad shoulder and rotator cuff issues if I’m not mistaken

    Yeah, it was different, though I cringe at people who long for the "good ole days" where player health is ignored because they are supposed to be "tough". I'll take the cautiousness of today over that.

    I think there should be a little more middle ground. Not that careless but not as kid gloves as they are today.
