Transferring MLB 21 DD to Next Gen
-
I am still in the process of trying to obtain a PS5. I’m planning on pre-ordering a version of MLB 21 where I will be able to play on both current gen and next gen. Say I begin playing MLB 21 Diamond Dynasty on my PS4 and about a month later I start playing on a PS5. Will my DD team from PS4 transfer over to PS5 or will I have to start over on PS5?
I apologize if this was already asked and answered in an earlier post. I’ve been away from the forum for a bit.

The devices may be different, but your ps+ account is still the same. You'll have to re-do your game settings, but whatever you possess in game will still be there.
That’s what I thought, but just wanted to make sure. Thanks for clarifying.

All the DD stuff is server side so you'll be 100% fine.

I was wondering, if I buy the PS4 version and later get a PS5, am I going to need to buy the whole game again (if I want the upgrade) or will there be a small up charge to go to the PS5 version? Like, if I already own the PS4 version, would I be able to get the PS5 one later for, say, another $20 or so?
Right now, I’m planning to buy for my PS4. I’m not looking to buy a PS5 right now, but may end up getting one later on depending on availability, price and my financial situation.

You have to buy higher than just the base game to get the ps5 version as well. If you do, when the time come, you just download the ps5 version and you're dd team is there waiting for you. If you buy the base game, you'll have to get the game again for the ps5.
On each of the versions it'll tell you if the ps5 game is included with it.

As Rabid said, you have to buy more than just the base game. However, if you buy the ps4 disc version, it will have to be in the ps5 to play the free ps5 version. This, of course, means you will have to have the disc-based ps5, if you go this route.

Great post. I thought the same thing but wasn't 100% sure. I'm sure we're not the only ones.
