16 online was shut down so it was hard to place judgement but out of all of them 18 was def the worst with imo 20 a very close second ... 19 being the better game out of the last 3 years
And I think most of the problems the games suffer From are to do with framerate to be quite honest
If you notice the game took a turn for the worst right around the launch of PS4 and I think mlb was trying to do more then the hardware was capable of — I say that because my experience of the beta. And my experience playing the game before the PS4 and going back with an open mind to test some of the earlier stuff.

You just basically said 18 was the worst and every other year was bad too. Insightful.

He isn't wrong. 18 was a pile of hot steaming [censored] covered in a mass of boogers and Dallas Cowboy paraphernalia. 19 was only a slight improvement, and 20 was again a slight improvement.
Neither of those 3 titles have matched 17, 16, or 15.

People only dislike 20 because they aren't as good as they think they are

No people like 20 because it’s given them a false representation of how good they are.
19 is actually more skill based then 20 is. 21 I believe will be the best mlb game yet.
I base this not only on the beta but going back to playing the games.
You couldn’t spam check swings or foul everything off in 19. It was a thing but not like 20z. I actually didn’t realize this until I just played it. And the pitching was way more fluid. You could get outs.
Line outs weren’t even as annoying imo because rewarding bad contact was not as prominent
So you are saying I made World Series in 16, 17, 18, 19 and then in 20. All those bad players all of sudden got better then me. Or they were actually better then me the entire time?? Interesting.
Guys that I ran through up until championship??? That’s silly and makes no logical sense.
The only argument that might make sense is that 20 has a meta that doesn’t fit my play style. I’m way early on everything and feel like I’m hitting knuckleball speed and usually start doing well around 700 but it’s way more challenging due to the combination of 1. Lineouts 2. Rewarding bad contact 3. Check swinging to stay alive. 4. Foul tipping.
20 is not even close to the pinnacle of skill imo.

20 has the most skill. Its because of covid that there are just so many people that put a lot of hours in that it created a lot of depth in the higher divisions. Covid really impacted the game this year imo

There is no other mlb game that you can check swing and foul tip as consistently and get mistake meatballs on perfect meters. That is all catered to the bad player. And they reek havoc in 20— 20 is far less skill based then all of the other mlbs with the exception of 18 which is just really bad in more ways then 1.
Even in 18 you couldn’t check swing and foul tip.
And you might say — that’s only one thing. But it’s a HUGE deal. It’s the difference in a pitcher at 80 pitches and 25 pitches. And it happens literally every single game.
A lot of people that had success in 20 will not have success in 21. 20 has glorified the [censored] swinger with no plate vision. That is the only mlb that has this feature...and you’re saying it’s the MOST skill. The game that is the easiest to never fail is the most skill?

Yeah I know eh, online casuals want instant gratification....they don't put in the effort and expect to be good at the game in a week.

I [censored] love 20, but this is a glaring issue.

I made my living foul tipping pitches in mlb 19, so I really don't know what you're talking about. I guess the jist of your argument is its too easy to check swing and that flaw makes it worse than most other years? I don't agree.

It’s easier to foul tip in 20 then 19. Go back and try. I just did.

The online casuals thrive in 20...

I have a feeling you'll be disappointed in 21 as well, and every year after that.

I got 12 wins in 21 in my first BR run and rarely lost. I used to love this game back when it was good. Not that being good in the game makes me like it because I was World Series the last e few years and didn’t like the game. However I think some of you don’t realize what the game is like when all of the handicaps are removed. It’s a whole different game.
That’s basically what they do to make it “more competitive” they remove handicaps.
Imo 20 had the most handicaps. If not then why would they be “bringing back competitive”. If it never left???

Is anyone going to complain (besides me) that it is entirely too easy to get a full diamond squad??? I remember when a 90 was actually a really good card. Now if you don’t have a team of 93+ you are trash. Not only that but I believe in ‘20 it took about a week to get a full diamond squad. It’s garbage. Look at the market, it makes the market garbage too.

I 100% agree. A team full of 99s is every single game. They need to make it so these kind of cards are locked behind gameplay.

So you want The Show to basically become like Madden where the only way to have a good team is through microtransactions? Being able to put together a team capable of competing online without spending a single cent of real money is what makes The Show great and puts it above and beyond the video games of the 3 other major sports, at least in my opinion.

That wasn’t the case years ago...most teams online were pretty balanced. You’d see full Diamond teams but seeing a 99 was rare...it’s not that they should be locked behind micro transactions. But more grinding would be nice so we don’t see full 99 squads by the 2nd inning

Could you even make a full 99 squad before the 6th inning this year (without prestige levels)? And don’t forget the impact COVID had on how many people flew through the xp path.
Besides, having more 99s and more access to them creates lineup diversity in a way that people actually enjoy (because most people like to play with 99s).

I actually think 19 is worse than 20 simply because foul balls were even worse than they are in 20.
