They really do. I wanted a break from madden so I came back hoping some thing would have been fixed but nope.
Hopefully I get beta access to try the new version but even at that the game played very different from beta to launch last year and that's not even including the fact they changed hitting 3 days after official launch.

Because the newbies complained it was too hard to hit

I see gravity balls, weird hitting feeedback, and framerate issues still rule in this game.
I will definitely be waiting for real player feedback after the game drops before even thinking about buying this game again.
Played a bunch of showdown as well and I've done fine there but those diving catches from bronze fielders are still featured I see lol
It amazes me that there are literally no sports games that don't complete suck [censored] these days. Hopefully Gran Turismo 7 will be good.
this game is head and shoulders above Madden and NBA 2K, its really not even a comparison.

Yeah, ‘20 was the last straw for me, I won’t be playing ‘21 at all. This franchise has been in decline for a while and I don’t have any realistic hope for improvements in the coming year. Yes, the show is the best baseball game available, but when the only other game is RBI that’s not saying much. I’m tired of it all now, SDS can’t make a realistic baseball game to save their lives and the deliberate tactic of taking away full user control and replacing it with....... whatever you call the weird gameplay - Has really killed my desire to ever play the show again. Pitches that don’t locate with perfect input, batted ball outcomes that make no sense, losing games to a clearly inferior opponent who has no idea how to play baseball correctly and just pounds buttons arcade style etc. All you can do is express your dissatisfaction, which I have done many, many times, both on the forum and in emails offering feedback to SDS and hope they realise they’re killing the franchise with these terrible decisions.
All I can do is vote with my wallet and I’m not returning for ‘21 due to the hugely disappointing games SDS have churned out in the past few years. ‘16 and ‘17 were the pinnacle of gameplay, due to the absolute control afforded to users when pitching. ‘17 had the best pitching of any MLB the Show game because it was accurate when you were accurate with the controls. Later editions may have surpassed ‘16 and ‘17 in terms of content and availability of content to all players but the gameplay has been in a severe state of decline, every year I feel like I have less and less control of outcomes in game and everything feels more scripted and out of my hands. It’s actually pretty sad as I would regularly play for thousands of hours and play thousands of H2H games each year, but this franchise is no longer worth the investment for me, be that the financial investment of a PS5 and copy of the game plus stubs, or indeed, the time and effort invested to improve at a game that doesn’t offer any incentive to do so, instead being ruled by nonsensical and seemingly random outcomes. The final concern is that the content last year was horrible, if SDS see fit to continue down that path, giving legitimate legends like Griffey and Babe Ruth worse cards than some minor leaguer who has yet to play a game, giving multiple high diamond cards to the same player with slightly different stats and handing out 99s to anyone and everyone who don’t deserve them, then ‘21 will be just as garbage as last year. SDS really need to get a grip and think about the sport of baseball in a realistic manner, in every aspect from what happens when you throw a pitch, to how a ball should behave when making contact with a bat, to the comparison between Jacob Stallings and Jorge Posada and how that should affect the ratings of their best cards. I just can’t go through that nonsense again. Not this year, maybe ever.
Games tailored to kids who just slam buttons. It's painfully obvious. Takes zero skill level. Just as sds would want it. There bringing in a new fanbase by doing so.
this is it, this is the post.
just login to twtich and watch the people who play the game. they do have some solid guys who provide solid entertainment.
but for the most part its entitled little pricks who think SDS owes them the world and love breaking controllers when their perfect, perfect is caught at the track.
i hate to say it but bringing the far less superior game system over to a PS exclusive is kind of a bummer.
but thats just my two cents that doesnt matter.

SDS and Sony realized they could make tons of money if their game was tuned for a more casual player and they spent their time creating content instead of spending their resources to please a niche audience by constantly upgrading the tech and innovating for realism with the technology available.
Now they need to make the old tech work on XBox platforms and next gen consoles. SDS is probably fried just trying to get everything working for launch. It may take multiple years for them to get this new dev process ironed out.
Unfortunately it means a Madden like dev cycle that will slowly see the game play sink in quality, and features be cut more often than added. The studio is in a very tough position but i think they should have told the MLB to go find someone else to make the XBox version. Especially in a year with two generations of consoles.
Bah, who knows what the situation was. I just hope for the best game and content possible.
Ive enjoyed The Show for the last 3 years more than any other game. Even if i never played it again. Its been a pretty awesome time.

Here's food for thought. This is a franchise that has ALWAYS been a PS exclusive. Why would they all the sudden want to go cross play if the game was healthy and selling on the PS? I also think the game has been in decline and they are trying to bring in lost money from Xbox. Game has been a train wreck since '18. DDA is blatantly obvious.

This is my first year playing The Show. In my experience, this game has a huge skill gap. Mashing buttons won't get you to World Series. The best players recognize pitches and have the discipline to only swing at hitters' pitches with less than two strikes. They also know how to exploit an opponent's batting weaknesses and sequence pitches for maximum deception.
I see some complaints about perfect / perfect contact not being hits and pitches with perfect releases not being dots. I understand the frustration but I think the little bit of rng that results in perfect input sometimes leading to imperfect results is necessary to prevent the game from feeling robotic. The developers are striving to make this video game seem as lifelike as possible and I think the illusion would take a hit if we knew the exact outcome based on our input. Obviously, the inputs and outputs need to be correlated, which they are, but that bit of wiggle room that leaves the outcome uncertain is necessary for the magic of the presentation.
-
what if it was as simple tiered DDA but also manipulating certain peoples accounts or console ID's to allow certain players to be free from DDA such as Pitching_Rebel so that they can maintain the illusion that there is a skill gap.
wouldn't be that hard to program the game so that certain players can make the game look like it has a skill gap meanwhile still have DDA to keep more guys playing.

Isn’t that apparently what the difficulty jump at ranked seasons level 700 is? Getting out of ‘all star hell’ is this game’s equivalent of going from little league to majors.

Pressure from MLB.
MLB controls the rights to the use of anything MLB in the game and gets income from the game. MLB says ‘you expand your market or we pull the plug at end of contract’.

I should. Might have more success by just flailing away, fouling pitches off with trash timing, until the game decides to have my opponent deliver a meatball right down the middle. And then, because I'm using directional(lol) I'll hit a 500 ft homerun and replay it like i used some skill to do it.
