If you go into the inventory there are tons of 99 card versions of current players. I know they did special 99 cards for mlb players who played in that tournament but there are tons more on the list. I’m wondering if they just know certain mlb players play the game so they give them 99 cards to use of themselves. Anyone know for sure why these versions are there? At this point in the cycle it would be fun if they released them. None are super elite but would add a ton of new variety.

Yes that's what they did. Players who play the game are given boosted 99s by SDS to be used exclusively by them.
