Question about Fielding Attribute
-
From what I’ve read, I understand that fielding is tiered: 90 and above is diamond fielding, 80 and above is gold fielding, etc.
My question: Is there any difference then, between someone who has 89 fielding vs someone who has 80 fielding? Or are improvements only made when the attribute reaches the next “tier”.

I definitely asked this exact question earlier this year lol. Don’t think anybody knows for sure. I feel certain that 89 plays more favorably than 80. My question is more along the lines of is 88 to 89 the same increase as 89 to 90 (to get Diamond fielding). To which I don’t have an answer. I’ve heard of certain “thresholds” like 85+ reaction but this isn’t confirmed. 60, 70, 80, and 90 fielding could be “thresholds” for fielding.

Gut instinct tells me that a +1 increment could make a difference for a simmed play (randomised influence), but for user-controlled plays it would be thresholds. I’d love for that assumption to be proven wrong.

I feel like I can tell the difference between 71 and 79 fielding. I feel like, even though they are the same tier, 79 is a little quicker at some plays

It’s tough because there are confounding variables. I feel reaction is nearly as important an attribute as fielding and it may be tough to determine whether a play was made/not made due to good/bad fielding or good/bad reaction.
Sounds like mission accomplished then on the devs' behalf: art imitating life.
